I had my first appointment at this clinic yesterday, and I was extremely disappointed. While the clinic itself is big and impressive, the service was completely unprofessional. Sitting in front of a professional who spent the most of the 50-minute session constantly yawning and biting his nails was incredibly unpleasant and borderline offensive. On top of that, he repeatedly brought up ketamine treatments, as if he was selling the product/services, while completely ignoring the reason I came to meet with him in the first place. I left feeling frustrated and unheard. I will definitely not be returning.

The doctor gave the impression that this was a 1st session. It turns out it was not. His intention was to introduce the practice and refer me to another practitioner. It was a bit disingenuous. Other than this significant lack of communication, I found the doctor to be professional and attentive. As he was unwilling to accept responsibility for his lack of clarity I have chosen to seek treatment elsewhere.
Rather regrettable experience. Unprofessional & terrible listener. Probably too money minded & didn’t come across as genuine at all. Again a terrible terrible listener. He’d rather discuss politics than the the specifics of treatment; so he can push another appointment? Not focused or directed at all. I was also pissed by the wasteful repetitiveness. I filled my full name, DOB, address etc online when booking the appointment. His office called me a week before appointment to have me repeat it on the phone again. Then I had to fill it in by hand again when I arrived at his office. Then the doctor in his chamber wanted me to repeat the info so he can type it in his notes. Really my full name & address?! And then he didn’t have enough time to discuss the dosage. What disrespect & waste of time.

I would not recommend this practice. I went in for an initial consultation and never once was I asked about any symptoms that were bothersome. The intake interview was not guided at all and I left feeling like I missed covering things that were important to me because of the lack of structure/format. On top of that, Dr. Zimmerman at one point called a 6-month relationship that I mentioned just ended “not a real relationship,” and laughed multiple times during my intake interview. I don’t know if he was trying to empathize or felt uncomfortable but it did not sit well. Finally, despite knowing that I am already in regular therapy with a provider I love, the practice heavily pushed booking a therapy appointment with them in addition to a medication management follow up. I left with a prescription and a bad taste in my mouth, but no knowledge of a formal diagnosis.
Dr. Zimmerman was great. Very easy to speak with, a great listener, and really helpful in helping me think about my long-term mental health treatment plan. Looking forward to starting my work with Acheron.

Dr. Zimmerman is insightful, respectful, and genuinely cares about the wellbeing of his patients. He combines expert knowledge of psychiatric medicine with the rigorous analysis of psychodynamic treatment. He answers emails within hours or even minutes and is always available in emergencies.
