Dr. Alina Kochoumian Stanciu
After graduating S.U.N.Y at Stony Brook Medical School, Dr. Stanciu completed her Ophthalmology residency training at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in New York in 1985. Dr Stanciu has done thousands of no-stitch cataract surgeries with topical anesthetic with excellent results. She now specializes in Retinal diseases, Advanced Cataract Surgery, Glaucoma, Laser Surgery and Lasik.Dr. Stanciu is a board certified Ophthalmologist with over 18 years experience in specialized medical and surgical eye care. Dr. Stanciu is both widely recognized and highly regarded for her ability to provide expert medical and surgical care, combining advanced medical specialization with warmth and sincere human empathy.
Dr. Stanciu also speaks French, Italian, Spanish, Armenian and Romanian.

The office is very small, and there were a lot of people there before me, making it very cramped. It was very loud, and you could hear what everyone was saying very clearly from the waiting room.
The tech took me back and interrupted me three times as I was trying to explain why I was there. I got through that and went back to the waiting room. The doctor arrived through the front door 30 minutes later and started seeing patients.
When it was my turn, I was rushed through. They didn't really ask me any questions, just told me that I need to come back for a follow up. It was less than 5 minutes total that I spent with any clinician.

When I arrived at the office, it was packed. People were complaining about the long wait. I waited an additional 40 minutes before finally being seen. The doctor was extremely rude and bluntly told me that I could either get my glasses from her or not at all, as she would not provide a prescription to buy glasses elsewhere. She was unkind and did a poor job. She then showed me a few outdated glasses options. Despite telling me there was nothing wrong with my eyes and that I could use my existing prescription, she instructed me to return in a month. Overall, my experience was awful, and I do not plan on returning or recommending this eye doctor.

Both times I went to my appointment I was on time, yet I was told to wait. The wait was for more than 2 hours. The last time I had an appointment, the Doctor was one hour and 45 minutes late. Once she arrived, she started seeing patients who were threatening to leave and were there for botox treatment. I was first in the queue, yet she saw me until I stood up and argued with them to be seen. I was there because of an eye infection. I received a condescending attitude from the doctor. She also treats her staff terribly.

I am not one to leave bad reviews, but dr. Stanciu’s office will be the exception.
For reference, I’d purchased 20 units of Botox for a small amount in my forehead. I’m only 26, and I’ve been getting 20 units of preventative Botox from OVME for the last three years and am very familiar with the procedure.
I showed up to my appointment on time and ended up waiting for over an hour and a half. During which, they allowed patients who showed up an hour after I did to go ahead of me.
When the doctor finally saw me, she refused to treat me unless I purchased way more than the 20 units of Botox I had already purchased, and she didn’t let me say what I wanted to have done. I’m a pushover, but she was speaking to me in such a condescending and mean way that my boyfriend had to ask her if she could please speak more respectfully to me. I have never received such unprofessional behavior from any other clinic I’ve been to, and after she made me cry, I decided to leave and ask for a refund.

I had a 3 pm appointment with the doctor, i was advised she was late due to traffic and I was willing to work with her since their wasn't a lot of people waiting. I had to wait two hours before the doctor saw me, their was new patients coming into the office being seen by the doctor and leaving before. by the time I saw the doctor the office was empty, horrible experience just for a eye exam where she spent less then 10 minutes with me. No apologies given for the wait and no apologies for why people had been placed before me in error.
