The mission at AKP Speech Therapy is to help families feel empowered to provide language rich environments for their children. For our patients with aphasia, our mission is to provide mindful speech therapy to create meaningful communication and independence. We are committed to providing evidence-based therapy and dynamic assessments and evaluations. AKP Speech Therapy puts the needs of the families first. In order to achieve these goals we: * teach families ways to promote language skills into their daily routines. * provide client-directed therapy. * address the concerns of the client’s family. * adjust therapy as needed if there is little or slow progress. * stay informed on the latest speech, language, feeding research.

She did speech therapy with her for two years and in that time it completely transformed her speech, taking her from barely coherent to crisp speech that her teachers and classmates could easily understand. Alex is really the best. I went from having no idea where to start to help my child's stutter to feeling totally equipped to help him navigate the issue. After the first week, my son began showing improvements with use of one simple exercise we still use. Alex is so professional, courteous and very naturally great with kids. Alex is amazing! She is proof that tele-therapy truly works. Without ever meeting us in person, she was able to build a relationship with our son in which he looked forward to sitting down and attending the 30 minute virtual sessions. She is an excellent speech therapist with an endless list of props, visuals, and techniques to capture any child’s attention. She is so creative and knows how to help a child feel less frustrated and more confident in their language development. She makes it light and fun so it feels like a virtual playdate instead of a “class” while at the same time evoking speech from the child and providing educational tips for the parents. We started working with Alexandra after my 90 yr. old client had a mini stroke that affected his speech. Since he has a form of Alzheimers, we had concerns whether he would be able to relate to someone on a computer screen, but Alexandra was able to put him at ease right from the beginning. His speech has remarkably improved in such a short time. Alexandra brings a balance of deep professionalism and her fun personality to each session. I highly recommend her.
