American Riviera Wellness
About American Riviera Wellness
American Riviera Wellness is a private outpatient psychiatry and psychopharmacology practice located in Santa Barbara, California. We provide timely access to personalized mental health care for children, adolescents, college students, and adults.
Our practice was founded with a clear mission: to bridge the gap between psychiatry, medicine, and everyday life. Too often, patients wait months for an appointment, feel rushed through visits, or receive medication without proper follow-up. At American Riviera Wellness, we slow down, listen carefully, and create treatment plans that make sense — not just for your symptoms, but for your life.
Who We Treat
Children & School-Age Students
We specialize in ADHD diagnosis and medication management. Families often struggle to find providers who understand both the academic and behavioral aspects of ADHD. Our approach is thoughtful, structured, and focused on helping kids thrive at school and at home.
College Students & Young Adults
College can be overwhelming. Between academics, independence, and social pressures, many students experience anxiety, depression, or difficulty focusing. We provide accessible care to help students stay healthy, productive, and on track with their goals.
Adults with Complex Medical Histories
Psychiatric care doesn’t exist in isolation. With a background in internal medicine, we understand how chronic illness, multiple medications, and systemic health conditions can affect mood, sleep, and concentration. We take into account the whole patient when developing treatment strategies.
Our Clinical Approach
Immediate Availability — When you or your child needs help, waiting months isn’t acceptable. We work hard to offer same- or next-day appointments when possible.
Integrated Perspective — Psychiatry, medicine, and daily life overlap. We examine how your body, medications, and symptoms interact to create a clear treatment plan.
Supervised Practice — Care is provided by Gabe Dudley, MPAP, PA-C, under the supervision of Zev Nathan, MD, PhD, a board-certified psychiatrist with expertise across child, adolescent, and adult populations.
Spanish-Speaking Available — Se habla Español.
Collaborative Model — We coordinate closely with therapists, primary care providers, and schools. We focus on medication management, not psychotherapy, making us a complementary partner to existing therapy relationships.

FAQs
Do you take insurance?
We are currently private-pay. We provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement, and PPO credentialing is in progress.
Can I be seen via telehealth?
Yes. We offer secure video visits for patients located in California.
Do you prescribe ADHD medications?
Yes. We provide careful ADHD evaluations and evidence-based prescribing, including stimulants when appropriate. We emphasize safety, monitoring, and ongoing communication.
Do you see patients who already have a therapist?
Absolutely. In fact, we prefer it. We focus on medication management and work best as a partner to your therapist or counselor.
Do you see adults as well as children?
Yes. We treat patients across the lifespan, from children (around age 9 and up) to adults.
Do you handle emergency situations?
We are an outpatient clinic and not a crisis center. If you or your loved one is in crisis, call 988 or go to the nearest emergency department.
Resources for Parents & Students
What to Expect with ADHD Medications
Stimulants can be life-changing for focus and behavior, but they require careful titration and monitoring. We explain every step, track response, and adjust as needed.
Managing Multiple Medications
Many patients with chronic illness already take several medications. We carefully review interactions, side effects, and medical conditions before prescribing psychiatric medications.
College Mental Health
Transitioning to college can trigger anxiety, depression, or academic struggles. We provide practical support and treatment to help students succeed both academically and personally.
Our Philosophy
We believe mental health care should be accessible, safe, and collaborative. Our approach is grounded in science but delivered with empathy. Every patient deserves a provider who listens, a plan that makes sense, and care that accounts for both medical and psychiatric needs.
