Amy Laird
My approach to therapy is depth-oriented, which involves exploring the unconscious, drawing on the wisdom of dreams, and integrating past experiences, inner conflicts, and different parts of who you are into a more grounded and authentic whole. I believe your deepest self is always present as a safe and true guide- it is the aim of our work together to listen to and use that connection. I take a strength-based approach to adaptive patterns caused by oppression, encourage self-love and self-care practices, and work to increase ways to connect to community and social supports, while emphasizing individuation over conformity.
Background in community out- and in-patient behavioral health settings; Certified Clinical Trauma Prof. Level II; holistic MSW specialization. Modalities: meditation, psychodynamic and somatic therapies, shadow work, functional nutrition, dreams, art, symbols, spiritual/numinous experiences, and both logical/cognitive and embodied/physical grounding.
Sometimes a sense of need for change brings clients to therapy, which starts a process of differentiating conscious and unconscious aspects of the psyche, leads to a dynamic interplay between them, and culminates in transformation and integration. If you feel an inner urge to heal, to grow, to change or to get help, I welcome you to reach out.
