Back to Basics Counseling
Back to Basics Counseling supports teen girls and young women as they navigate anxiety, depression, stress, relationships, identity development, emotional regulation, self-confidence, boundaries, and major life transitions.
The Back to Basics Method begins with a strong therapeutic relationship. Rather than rushing into advice or telling clients what they should do, I first work to understand their experiences, strengths, culture, and readiness for change. From there, we identify clear goals and develop practical strategies that can be used in everyday life.
My approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and collaborative. Sessions may incorporate cognitive behavioral strategies, solution-focused techniques, mindfulness, psychoeducation, journaling, creative activities, and coping-skills development. Treatment is individualized and regularly adjusted based on each client’s needs and progress.
Services are provided by Melinda Rockwood, M.Ed., Texas LPC Associate, License No. 103171, under the board-approved supervision of Shannon Thomas, LPC-S.
