Battaglia Integrative Psychiatry
Integrative mental health and sleep medicine for people who want more than a prescription — and a clinician who understands why that matters.
Serving Boulder at my Louisville office and Denver at my Lohi office (Kaufcare.com) in person and Colorado, California and Hawaii via telehealth.
I am a clinician shaped by emergency medicine, adventure sports, and a 30-year meditation practice.
I spent 14 years in emergency medicine before transitioning into integrative psychiatry — not as a departure from medicine but as a deeper commitment to knowing my clients and treating root causes.
In the emergency department, you can't separate the mind from the body. A patient's sleep history, their chronic stress, the complex life struggles — it's all right there in front of you as part of the reason people end up in the ER. Those years taught me that the most important and big picture questions in health often aren't being addressed.
I've lived with insomnia. I know what it means to lie awake at 3 a.m. with a mind that won't stop even after doing all the 'right things' with my health, and to feel the cumulative weight of that on mood, energy, and resilience. That experience deepened my commitment to sleep medicine and led me to advanced training in CBT-I, the gold-standard behavioral treatment for insomnia that most people have never been offered. It also lead me to study with Dr Nishi Bhopal MD (https://pacificintegrativepsych.com) for extensive integrative sleep medicine training.
I've also maintained a meditation practice since the 1990s — not as a spiritual identity, but as a clinical tool and a personal discipline that has shaped how I understand the nervous system, emotions, thoughts, and life purpose.
This practice exists because I believe people deserve care that addresses all of it — the sleep, the stress physiology, the nervous system and genome, nutrients, the medication and meditation questions, the biohacking options and the life they're actually trying to live.
This practice is organized around understanding your nervous system, your sleep, your history, your lifestyle, and your goals — then building a plan that reflects all of it.
Integrative psychiatry that is grounded in neuroscience, honest about what works, and genuinely invested in your recovery.
