Blackwoodvascular

Practice Description : An Affordable and always available, no stress, cash only Telehealth vascular surgeon: (no in person visits) . Welcome to Blackwood Vascular, a different kind of vascular surgery practice built around one simple belief: patients deserve access to a vascular surgeon who has the time to explain, teach, guide, and advocate for them throughout their journey. My name is Dr. Stuart Blackwood, and I am a board-certified vascular surgeon with training that includes an internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, seven years of General Surgery training, and a two-year Harvard-affiliated Vascular Surgery fellowship. I specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of arterial and venous disease, including peripheral arterial disease (PAD), carotid artery disease, aneurysms, varicose veins, venous insufficiency, limb-threatening ischemia, and complex vascular conditions. Vascular surgery is not simply my profession. It is the central focus of my life. However, I have chosen to build a career that allows me to practice vascular surgery in a way that reflects my values rather than following the traditional model. One part of my practice involves traveling to hospitals and communities that have limited or inconsistent access to vascular surgery care. Many rural hospitals struggle to recruit and retain vascular specialists. Through locum and travel-based vascular surgery work, I help provide care to patients who otherwise might have to travel hours to access a vascular surgeon. I also maintain cosmetic and vein-focused services in select locations close to where I live, helping patients with venous disease, appearance concerns, and quality-of-life issues related to chronic venous insufficiency. My greatest passion, however, is the work I do through telehealth consultations and second opinions. Through Blackwood Vascular, I work with patients across multiple states who are looking for guidance about their vascular condition. Some patients are newly diagnosed. Others have been told they need surgery and want additional perspective. Many simply want someone to sit down, review their imaging, answer their questions, and help them understand what is happening to their body. For selected patients who live near one of my clinical locations, I may be able to arrange in-person evaluation through those separate practices. However, Blackwood Vascular itself is not a procedural practice. I do not perform surgery, interventions, or procedures through Blackwood Vascular. The purpose of this practice is consultation, education, second opinions, longitudinal guidance, and helping patients navigate complex vascular conditions. I believe that one of the greatest challenges in modern medicine is that physicians increasingly have less time to spend with patients. Most vascular surgeons genuinely want to educate their patients, but busy operating schedules, hospital obligations, and administrative demands can make those conversations difficult. The result is that many patients leave appointments still confused about their diagnosis, treatment options, risks, and long-term outlook. That is where Blackwood Vascular is different. I enjoy teaching. I enjoy drawing diagrams, reviewing scans, explaining anatomy, and helping patients understand concepts that may initially seem overwhelming. During consultations, I often use pictures, sketches, and visual explanations because I believe healthcare information should be understandable regardless of a person's educational background. My own journey has taken me from Munro College in Jamaica, to Morgan State University in Baltimore, to St. George's University in Grenada, through training at Johns Hopkins and Harvard-affiliated programs. Those experiences exposed me to people from every imaginable background and taught me the importance of meeting patients where they are. Whether you are a physician, a teacher, a construction worker, a retiree, or someone who never had the opportunity for higher education, you deserve clear answers delivered with patience and respect. In addition to patient consultations, I maintain a growing YouTube educational platform focused on vascular disease. My goal is to create resources that patients can revisit after appointments, share with family members, and use to better understand their condition. Education does not end when a telehealth visit concludes. Many patients describe wanting a trusted vascular expert whom they can continue to contact when questions arise. While I do not replace your primary care physician, cardiologist, or local vascular surgeon, I strive to serve as an ongoing vascular resource and advocate. After establishing care, patients have access to direct communication pathways, including practice email and other contact methods, along with future telehealth follow-up options when needed. Think of me as your vascular surgery coach. My role is not simply to review a scan and disappear. My goal is to help patients understand their disease, make informed decisions, communicate effectively with their local healthcare teams, and navigate the often-complicated journey that comes with chronic vascular conditions. Too many patients today are left searching Facebook groups, internet forums, and random websites for answers. While those resources may provide support, they are not substitutes for expert medical guidance. Patients facing decisions about aneurysms, blocked arteries, carotid disease, limb preservation, vein disease, or vascular surgery deserve evidence-based information from someone who lives and breathes vascular surgery every day. If you are looking for a vascular surgeon who will take the time to explain, educate, and guide rather than simply tell you what to do, Blackwood Vascular may be the right place for you. My commitment is to provide honest recommendations, practical advice, and long-term support so that you can better understand your condition and move forward with confidence.

Dr. Blackwood was extremely personable and took the time to really explain his thought process on my treatment schedule that he created. I felt like he really took my opinion into consideration on how i was hoping to be treated. He was also very straightforward about everything and didnt try to beat around the bush on what treatments involve or costs.
