Practice Description – Neuropsychiatric & Brain-Based Care At Brain Wellness and Mental Health Integrative Medicine, our philosophy is rooted in understanding the brain as the organ of emotion, behavior, and perception. We recognize that mental health symptoms are not signs of weakness — they reflect changes in brain circuitry, chemistry, and processing that can be supported, healed, and strengthened. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with advanced training in neuropsychiatry, I integrate the science of brain structures and functions with compassionate mental health care. This means treatment is not limited to managing symptoms—we aim to improve the underlying brain networks responsible for mood, anxiety, attention, sleep regulation, and emotional resilience. Our Methods & Distinctive Approach ✔ Neuropsychiatric Assessment We explore how different brain systems may be contributing to symptoms—including the amygdala (fear and anxiety), prefrontal cortex (focus, decision-making), and limbic circuits (emotion regulation). ✔ Measurement-Informed Care (MIC) We use tools (PHQ-9, GAD-7, sleep scales, and cognition measures) to track progress and make precise adjustments to treatment. ✔ Integrative Medication Management Medications are selected to support brain chemistry (serotonin, dopamine, GABA, and glutamate) and restore balance—not simply suppress symptoms. ✔ Therapy with Brain-Based Strategies We incorporate interventions that strengthen neural pathways: CBT (challenge catastrophic thoughts) Mindfulness & nervous-system regulation Trauma-informed care Behavioral activation to improve dopamine pathways ✔ Psychoeducation: Understanding Your Brain Patients learn why their brain responds the way it does—reducing fear, stigma, and self-blame. ✔ Lifestyle Neuroscience We address how sleep, nutrition, exercise, and stress patterns reshape the brain, promoting healing from the inside out.
