Capital Allergy Asthma and Immunology

We provide a full spectrum of allergy services. In addition to the usual allergy evaluation of environmental allergens, food, biological products, and venom, we also evaluate/test for vaccine allergies (e.g., season flu and H1N1 flu vaccine in egg allergy patients) and Penicillin sensitivity (newly available) and conduct atopic food patch tests for GI conditions (e.g., Eosinophilic Esophagitis). An integral part of our practice is to educate patients through personal demonstrations of the correct usage of medicines/devices, allergen environmental control, adequate skin care regimen (e.g., treatment of eczema), and media assistance.

He's very good for sure but especially if you have a complicated or mixed history he'll bulldoze right over you while you're stuck trying to figure out what information he's actually asking for (symptom versus medical history, etc). Honestly he got so annoyed if you had to backtrack I didn't want to mention anything else and just took the beating for having bad care bc no insurance for so many years

He didn't even give me a prescription.. told me to see another doctor for my sickness.. I have never experienced a doctor like this he was giggling with another doctor while they both were sitting in the meeting with me. I don't recommend anyone see this guy.
I brought my son to see Dr. Pung about his allergies. Dr. Pung was very rude to me. He somehow got into his head that I was a new immigrant unfamiliar with the American medical system and launched himself at me in a very condescending manner. (In fact I'd lived here for over 20 years and have more than adequate ability to navigate the system.) He was presumptuously dismissive about everything my wife and I had done with our son's routine pediatric care (split between Medstar Geogetown's pediatric clinic and our family doctor). When I didn't have the answer to a question he asked and offered to quickly look it up or call my wife, he'd dismiss it as unimportant and move on to the next one in the same disparaging manner. It went on for about ten minutes until I confronted him. After that his attitude improved. What's truly scandalous about his action is not that he took me for a new immigrant but that he treated someone he though was a new immigrant the way he did.

Dr. Pung really knows his stuff and I appreciate that he tries to wean you off of constant medication and look for more natural or long term solutions. My immunotherapy is definitely helping me (I can pet cats now!). His staff each does what they do very well (the ladies who give the immunotherapy shots are quick and don't butcher you). Only downside is the price, some of the allergy tests are pretty expensive.

This apointment was crazy fun despite the pain in getting the allergy scratch tests. They were wonderful. I have not experienced such a office family in awhile, and it warms my heart. I learned a lot about allergies and believe I can only feel better from here on out with them.
Dr. Pung himself is reasonbly decent -- the only issues I had with him personally may have been due to a minor language barrier. His staff is terrible, though. I was administered a lung function test by one of his nurses who degraded me and accused me of lying because I was physically incapable of completing the test in the manner she specified; a manner which was in fact incorrect. She then proceeded to stab my arms during an allergy prick test with excessive force, leaving small scars on my forearms.
I just love that doctor. I hope my treatment work out! It was my first visit and i really want overcome for the good! Doctor Pung is a great doctor !!!

He was very dismissive of my concerns and refused to believe me when I stated that I had noted sensitivies to certain types of foods (my skin prick tests at his office came back negative). Also bring your patience. You'll have to spend a lot of time dealing with a clueless medical student that is currently under Dr. Pung's supervision.

I ended up frustrated and I think I will follow up with a different doctor. Maybe it was just a mismatch of personalities, but I was scared by some recent, sudden and strong allergic reactions, and he was kind of dismissive and did not provide any guidance (we couldn't do the skin test because it had been recent enough that I had used benadryl in the last 5 days). He got irritated at me for calling it hives, and scolded me not to use medical terms. Looked like hives to me, but whatever. I just think someone else would be a better match for me.
Dr. Pung really cares about communicating information so that the patient thoroughly understands everything about causes and effects of the allergy or illness.
