Chaya Travis, LCSW

I know that it can be really hard to reach out to a therapist for help. Despite all of the progress made to decrease stigmatization about therapy, the stigma still exists. My goal is to create a supportive environment where clients can feel comfortable to talk about what is most challenging for them. The most commonly identified challenges my clients face are: relationship difficulties, sexual disorders, trauma and women's health. I work with clients to meet their own goals for treatment in addressing these struggles along with partnering with them in their journey for self awareness and self growth. My approach is collaborative, which means I look at my work as a partnership with each client. I don't have a specific agenda; my goal is simply to help my clients achieve their goals. I take a holistic approach in working with clients to help them see how their past informs their present and how environment and relationships can impact current functioning. Reach Out I like working with clients who are motivated to engage in therapy and are committed to the process. I do assign homework if that is helpful for the client and will help meet their needs. I welcome questions and feedback and I deeply recognize that clients are the experts on their own lives. They bring with them the knowledge of their lived experiences and I am always in awe of their capacity for healing, growth, and survival. I also provide clinical supervision to other therapists looking to enhance their clinical practice, in addition to teaching social work students as a way to spread my passion for the work that I do. If what I have shared thus far resonates with you and you feel that I can be of support and assistance to you, I look forward to speaking with you and building a supportive and therapeutic relationship with you.
