I am an experienced clinical psychologist that focuses on tailoring specific interventions to a client's unique need and identity, with clinical focus and expertise in the following areas:
Couples Therapy - Integrating the science of what actually helps marriages and avoiding the strategies based on myths and pitfalls that can actually harm your relationship. Couples in therapy need immediate steps and solutions they can try instead of non-directive, time-wasting approaches.
Adolescent/Young Adult Concerns – The world is changing at a faster pace, with different levels of contact and communication than at any time in human history. One of the costs of the information age is that adolescents manage more stressors. Adolescents and Young Adults can greatly benefit from a therapeutic space where they feel seen, heard, and most importantly work with a clinician the understands the gravity and immediacy of their concerns. In a society that values youth and vitality, too often the concerns of adolescents and young adults are invalidated and ignored.
GLBTQIA Identity Concerns – This topic dovetails with Adolescent and Young Adult concerns, since one of the key tasks of this age range is integrating our various identities into a cogent, functioning self. Sadly, individuals in the GLBTQIA community are diminished and even discriminated against in their own family system. Work in this area needs to honor the intersection of various client identity, affirm the difficulties inherent in identity development, and validate the unique choice points this community is faced with, day in and day out.
Trauma - Evidence Based Techniques like EMDR, Trauma Informed CBT, and exposure therapy to target symptoms of trauma and diminish the impact of traumatic experiences in your day to day life. Each traumatic experience is unique and needs to be understood in terms of its holistic impact. Trauma often presents with other concerns, and those need to be honored and managed along the way.
Depression - Gaining an understanding of the unique factors that contribute to your depression symptoms, whether job stress, family stress, biological predisposition, or recent events. Depressed individuals do better in treatment when they can target some changes they want to make and gain a sense of control and efficacy. This can be mobilized in the first few sessions.
Anxiety - Whether panic disorder, chronic worry, or physical tension, anxiety can feel overwhelming and seems to strike at random. Interventions targeting anxiety need to integrate the science of neurology with specific steps clients can use to decrease midbrain activity and re-train the brain to achieve relaxed concentration. A mix of cognitive, behavioral, and mindfulness-based approaches can give clients a sense of mastery and control over anxiety.

Very good counselor! Laid back, great listener, and didn't try to do too much at once.
