Clutch PT + Performance

Clutch PT + Performance is a premier sports performance facility, built by athletes, for athletes. Our flagship location is on the Upper East Side of NYC, and we also serve athletes in Fairfield County out of SoNo Ice House in Norwalk, CT. We stake our reputation on getting our athletes better faster by providing unparalleled one-on-one care in sports and orthopedic physical therapy, post-operative rehab, sports performance optimization and dry needling (CT only). As athletes ourselves, we understand the caged-animal kind of mentality you get when you can't do what you love, so we do everything in our power to get you back out there ASAP. We believe in full body and movement assessment to pinpoint the root cause of dysfunction so we can relieve your pain, prevent it from recurring, and help you realize your full athletic potential. Stop chasing your symptoms and get fixed for good. Heads up -- we choose to be an out of network provider so we can offer a higher caliber of care than big box, in-network PT chains. All of our sessions are 45 mins, one-on-one, with a Doctor of PT who has many years of experience specializing in sports and orthopedics. We never treat multiple patients at the same time, we don’t use aides or assistants and we don't fill your appointment with modalities that won't actually get you better. No JV squad here. It tends to be more of an investment for most, but we invest in you right back. We're not right for everyone, though. Please reach out to us with your insurance information to verify cost before booking.

The only physical therapy that truly helped me get back to 100% (and I’ve been to 3 before this one). What makes Clutch different is: A) 1-1 care; you see the same PT each time for 45m without other patients B) Emphasis on sport specific treatments. Great place for athletes / people who love to workout, but also anyone looking to feel better C) Personal treatment plans that elvolve as you recovery - unlike other PTs that give you a packet of print outs with random exercises Recommend Dr. Dom - super knowledgeable, systemic, and efficient in his diagnoses and recovery plans.

I came to Josh in serious pain after injuring my back lifting weights. Over the course of my time with him, he was able to fix the immediate problem while also helping me build up the strength and technique to prevent a similar injury from happening again. I've worked with many physical therapists over my athletic career, but Josh was the best I've ever dealt with in terms of tailoring a response to my specific needs. Although I hope that an injury never forces me back into his office, if it does, I know I'll be in good hands with Josh and his Clutch PT team.

Dr. Josh is an excellent care provider. He provided clear and concise instructions, explained what he was doing and why, and was always available if I had questions. He made the training and recovery regimen supportive and interesting, and after a few weeks of care my injury felt far better than it had in a long time. Now, I am running again, and couldn't be happier. Highly recommended.

Josh helped me years ago with hip flexor issues. Just came back so he can help with glute tightness. I have complete confidence in him and the exercises he has recommended. Now it is up to me to follow his prescription. The videos he sent were awesome. So important as it is easy to not do the exercise correctly. It’s just like having him by my side.

Everyone at Clutch is GREAT!
Josh is the Best!

As an athlete, I felt I was in such great hands with Josh. I saw him prior to my first marathon and received excellent care. I’d highly recommend him to anyone!

Josh was terrific. When I started to see him I could barely walk a few feet without pain as a result of a muscle injury to my back. After a couple of months of remote sessions (biweekly at first, and once a week and more infrequent later), I was playing tennis, waterskiing, and paddle boarding. He gave me the appropriate exercises, was patient in walking me through how to do them, and helpfully gave me the intellectual reasons for the exercises and what they were doing for my muscles. He was always available and has a great bedside manner.

I am fortunate enough to have experienced top notch care at Clutch PT for MULTIPLE injuries over several years. Between a nasty and nagging hamstring injury one year, and a pretty brutal case of a work from home stiff shoulder/neck/entire upper body situation when COVID struck, my issues have always been attended to with precise attention and a gentle (or in some cases, NOT so gentle) touch when I needed it most!! Thanks Team Clutch PT!

I used to be a triathlete but my body was not built to be a triathlete. The physical therapists at Clutch have nursed me back to health when I was at my fittest and now that I’m in a different kind of shape (potato shaped), they are still fixing my bod. Five years later and I still love Clutch. If you’ve acquired some aches and pains during COVID, please consider them. Their safety procedures are up to code and you will feel much better!!! Support this amazing small business.

Fantastic experience, Josh was by far the best PT I have worked with. After surgery on an old ankle injury, he understood that I wasn't content just managing the injury - he put a program together that got me back to 100%. Highly recommended.

Physical therapy at clutch is personalized, specific to the individual, physical therapy. The therapists are greatly in tune with the needs of their patients and their knowledge is truly remarkable.

I honestly am floored by the speed of my recovery with Clutch PT. I was injured for months and saw another PT because of convenience the whole time, which I knew in my gut wasn’t really doing anything. I did a virtual session with Dr. Josh, who gave me a 10 min routine with the exercises I needed most, and 2 weeks later, I was running with no pain. In one month, I’m back to hard training efforts and running sub 6 pace off the bike. I knew he was GOOD, but what kind of voodoo witchcraft are you guys pulling over there?! The other PT was pushing toward MRI, PRP, etc. But Josh’s approach was to inquire about my history and training habits, and surmised it was more likely a chronic issue that those other costly treatments would not necessarily fix. He honed in on the problem with a prescription of the proper movements, and it got blood flow going again. I could literally feel it getting stronger every day. Thank you for saving me from going down an expensive rabbit hole of a bunch of tests and alternate treatments I didn’t need!

Dr. Josh is incredibly passionate about helping his patients feel and perform at their absolute best. There's truly no one else I would trust more. He has treated me for several different issues over the years, through training for marathons, an Ironman, an ultra race, during both of my pregnancies and with my postpartum goal of qualifying for Boston (which I did, 3 times, in no small part because he kept me healthy!) Every time, he has thoroughly assessed what was going on, pinpointed the problem, worked hard on it himself, told me exactly what I needed to do on my own to fix it and held me accountable — exactly what I needed. I first saw him for a stubborn case of ITBS but he's also treated me for PSD during pregnancy and most recently for glute tendinopathy. As a runner and triathlete himself, he could relate to everything I was going through. I have always felt he's just as invested in my recovery and success as an athlete as I am. Highly recommend him and Clutch PT!

Really went in to understand my current situation and provide a path to a solution.
I wondered if an out-of-network provider was any better than an in-network-provider. What did I find? Ray Delacruz at Clutch Physical Therapy is a star and worth every penny plus the extra time it took me to travel to him. Ray's "functional approach" prepared me to return to all the activities I love. Don't make a mistake and think physical therapy is a commodity, it isn't. Go see Ray and the team at Clutch Physical Therapy and you will be thankful you did!

I have had a fantastic experience with Clutch Physical Therapy and with Ray in particular. Most recently I was dealing with neck and shoulder pain that was preventing me from playing tennis. Ray was able to address the problem and teach me proper exercises to strengthen the area. I have been able to get back out on the tennis court and play pain-free. I also worked with Ray on a previous occasion after dealing with a long stretch of foot pain following a stress fracture. Ray helped to address the issue and retrain my gait to prevent future problems. Ray is extremely knowledgeable, attentive, and a pleasure to interact with. I highly recommend Ray and Clutch PT to anyone.

Excellent physical therapy visit
I researched every PT in upper east side when I stumbled upon Clutch therapy. Raymond has been my PT since I was placed into a cam boot for a partial tear in my ankle. I knew my diagnosis going in and I came out understanding exactly what I needed to do to get better. As a young active person my injury was frustrating. Ray was extremely knowledgeable and explained my injury every step of the way. Not only does he evaluate the injury but the whole body’s mechanics. After seeing plenty of doctors, Raymond was someone I could trust. He gave me hope and confidence as I became stronger. I highly recommend anyone recovering from an injury to see Raymond. He is an expert in the field and has a holistic approach to his care. I am so grateful to have found Clutch PT. Along with Raymond, the clutch family is welcoming and supportive. The space is private and also has a gym. This was my second PT through my recovery I can say I felt a world of a difference. You feel like a real person not just a patient at Clutch.

I've been seeing Ray for almost two months now, weekly. I had a nagging pain in my leg that prevented me from sleeping at night, which has been close to completely alleviated in the short time we've been working together. Ray is smart, thorough and a pleasure to be around. I'd recommend him and Clutch PT to anyone looking to rehabilitate from an injury.

I started PT with Ray to address knee pain that I was experiencing when running. Ray addressed the issue not just at the site of pain but surrounding weaknesses contributing to it. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly which made the experience enjoyable. I’d recommend Ray to anyone looking for a great PT.

I've thoroughly enjoyed and benefitted from my sessions with Ray over the past couple months for shoulder and hamstring problems. When I initially reached out in January I spoke to Julie via email and over the phone, and she was immensely helpful in figuring out whether my insurance would cover sessions. Unfortunately my insurance did not cover the cost, but Clutch offered a nice five-pack that helped to reduce the per session cost. Ray did a thorough evaluation during our first session and I felt he really understood my mechanics and the reasons why I was experiencing the pains I had. He does a great job of explaining how the exercises he prescribes target and improve my weak areas. I would absolutely recommend Ray and Clutch PT overall!

Clutch PT and Ray are absolutely amazing! Ray is so knowledgeable about what athletes (and wanna-be athletes like myself) need to do to strengthen the muscles that are necessary to work out pain-free. I saw Ray once a week for about 4 months and he was able to show me which exercises I needed to do at home, help create more mobility in my shoulder and ultimately aide my recovery from injury. I've been to other PTs in the past for a variety of injuries, and Clutch is the best of the bunch. Clutch also takes its COVID protocols seriously - temperature checks, hand sanitizer, masking and limiting the number of people in the facility. I highly recommend Ray and Clutch PT.

Ray has a way of translating his intricate knowledge into bite sized, accessible lessons. In this way, he helps you understand why you might be in pain, and what you can do to avoid it in the future. In addition to these little lessons, his hands on technique is absolutely amazing for melting away muscle tension.

Ray is the BEST! He is really so focused on getting his patients back into shape and taking the pain away. Has a great sense of humor also!

Ray was very knowledgeable, attentive, communicative and gave a great physical therapy experience. He assessed my issues and put an organized rehab strategy together for me. As a fitness professional myself, I valued the time he spent with me and will continue to see Ray to address my future needs.

Ray is the utmost professional and takes his craft seriously as he is constantly learning. Ray is a master analyzer of movement, explains his assessment in a way that’s easy to understand, makes you feel like an active participant in your care, and will do everything in his power to give you the tools to succeed. You go to see Ray for his manual therapy prowess, but you stay for his kindness, compassion, and unyielding dedication to helping you reach your goals. Ray has helped me stay pain-free while lifting weights and recommend him with every fiber of my being.
Verified patient
My sessions with Ray have been great. He is so knowledgeable explaining why I am experiencing the pain and how each of the therapy techniques is addressing the issue. The home exercises are also very helpful in strengthening the area and preventative so the injury hopefully won't happen again. Highly Recommend!

Ray listens to ALL your probs with your bod and addresses everything thoroughly. He won’t let you do too much too soon but he will take into account what your goals are. He attacks my issues from all different angles if I’m not showing the improvement I should be and we’ve had great results. See Ray at Clutch today!!
Verified patient
My Physical Therapy sessions with Ray helped me not only recover quickly, but also helped stay injury free! He made sure to tell me why we were doing the exercises we were doing and explained how to avoid further injury so I could take that knowledge and apply it outside of our Physical Therapy sessions. He is incredibly knowledgable, kind, and caring. I would - and have - recommend him to my friends or anyone seeking a PT!

Ray is basically a magician! I woke up unable to walk without severe low back pain and hobbled my to the clinic. After a conversation about what I'd been doing to myself (pushing 2 kids in a jogging stroller followed by a strength circuit involving *maybe* too many weighted reverse lunges) and a full body movement assessment, he determined that the source of my pain was actually my SI joint and a rotated hip. He performed a distraction technique and unlocked everything! I walked (practically skipped!) out without any pain at all and felt better than I had in months. He set me straight, then got me on a program to follow to continue addressing my issues. He was extremely thorough, equally knowledgable and impressively skilled. (I'm admittedly picky!) Highly recommend Ray and the Clutch PT team!
