Cognitive Reset Counseling
Cognitive Reset Counseling (CRC) is a group mental health practice based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY, offering both in-person therapy and telehealth counseling throughout New York State. We work with adults, young adults, creatives, performers, entrepreneurs, and neurodivergent individuals who are ready to understand themselves more deeply and build lives that feel more like their own.
Our practice brings together a team of skilled, compassionate therapists with diverse specialties, so you can find the right fit for your needs, your budget, and your goals. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, complex trauma, ADHD, eating concerns, life transitions, or relationship issues, we have a clinician who is trained to meet you where you are.
What sets Cognitive Reset Counseling apart is our commitment to whole-person, brain-body-mind care. We do not believe talk therapy alone is always enough. The nervous system holds what the mind cannot always access, and healing often requires working at multiple levels simultaneously.
Our clinicians are trained in a range of evidence-based and neuroscience-informed modalities, including:
-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety, depression, and unhelpful thought patterns
-Brainspotting, a powerful brain-body therapy that accesses trauma stored beneath conscious awareness, targeting the deep neural networks where distress lives
-Neurofeedback and qEEG brain mapping, which provide direct, real-time training of brainwave activity to support regulation, focus, and emotional resilience
-Certified complex trauma treatment for PTSD and CPTSD, using evidence-based approaches that address the layered, relational nature of repeated trauma
-Somatic therapy and body-based interventions that help clients reconnect with physical sensation as a pathway to emotional healing
-Internal Family Systems (IFS), a parts-based approach that helps clients understand and integrate different aspects of their inner experience
-HRV Coherence Training using HeartMath technology, which trains the heart-brain connection and builds measurable physiological resilience
We also offer qEEG brain mapping, a comprehensive assessment of brainwave patterns that helps us understand how your brain is functioning and guides personalized treatment planning. No guesswork. Just data.
We have built CRC to serve the kinds of people who often feel like they do not quite fit a standard therapy office. Our clients include:
-Artists, musicians, actors, and other creative professionals navigating performance anxiety, creative blocks, identity, and the unique pressures of a life in the arts
-Entrepreneurs and high-achieving professionals dealing with burnout, perfectionism, stress, and the weight of building something from nothing
-Neurodivergent adults, including those with ADHD, who are looking for a therapist who actually gets how their brain works
-Individuals with complex trauma and CPTSD who need more than traditional talk therapy to feel safe enough to heal
People navigating eating concerns and disordered eating patterns who need a compassionate, non-diet-culture approach
-New Yorkers in demanding careers who know something needs to change but have not had the time or space to figure out what
-Couples navigating communication breakdowns, conflict patterns, intimacy concerns, or major life transitions who are ready to do the work together
-Anyone who has tried therapy before and felt like it did not quite fit
Our clinicians bring a range of credentials, cultural backgrounds, and lived experiences to their work. The practice is founded and led by Stephanie Sanz, LMHC-D, a licensed mental health counselor certified in complex trauma and somatic therapy, and a specialist in neurofeedback and Brainspotting. Stephanie holds advanced training from Columbia University and completed an NIH research fellowship at Stony Brook University.
Our associate therapists are supervised clinicians who bring specialties in somatic therapy, HeartMath HRV coherence training, ADHD, eating concerns, complex trauma, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Every clinician at CRC operates within a trauma-informed, culturally responsive framework, and every client receives individualized care regardless of which therapist they work with.
We know therapy is an investment, and we have built our practice to make it as accessible as possible without compromising on quality. CRC accepts select insurance plans and offers affordable self-pay rates. For clients who need a lower-cost option, we offer sessions with supervised graduate counselors within the practice starting at $40 per session. The same warm, evidence-based, client-centered care at a price point that works.
Our Brooklyn office is located at 252 Java Street, Suite 209, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY 11222, easily accessible by public transit. We also offer telehealth therapy throughout New York State, so no matter where you are, you can access the same quality of care.
We believe healing is not linear. We believe the nervous system is intelligent, not broken. We believe that understanding how your brain works is one of the most empowering things you can do for your mental health. And we believe that the right therapeutic relationship, one built on trust, curiosity, and genuine human connection, is the foundation everything else is built on.
We are not here to fix you. You are not broken. We are here to help you come back to yourself, with better tools, a clearer mind, and a nervous system that finally knows it is safe.
If you are ready to begin, we would love to meet you.

Steph made me feel welcomed and understood. As a first time therapist goer, I felt comfortable expressing my thoughts and feelings. In just the first meeting, which was very eye-opening, was way more helpful than I imagined that it would be. She is genuine and truly wants to help you feel better and has actually helped me in so many ways already. I have been working with her for several sessions now and I can’t recommend her and her team enough.

It was incredibly well-organized, there was a patient but timely cadence (i.e. did not feel rushed, there were no awkward pauses, etc.), and I felt like I completely understood everything that was going on.

Stephanie Sanz is an excellent therapist- she's attentive, patient, and kind. She has provided me with useful tools and methods to manage stress and address my mental health concerns. I've been seeing her for about 9 months and have noticed a significant improvement in my overall sense of well-being.

When I got there she said the initial sesion would be in network but any subsequent sessions would be out of network. The person who verified my insurance validated the wrong plan name so im not sure if that is even accurate. I feel like it is dishonest that represent yourself as an innetwork therapist. Not only did this delay my treatment with an innetwork but as a disabled person it was very difficult to get to the appointment just to be told right as I walked in that they did not have anyone in network. They could have called in advance.

She made me feel incredibly comfortable for our first conversation! It was nice to have someone invested in what I was saying and genuinely seemed to care.

I’ve been seeing Stephanie for a few months now for psychotherapy. It is really tough to find a good therapist and I am so happy that I found her. You can tell that she really cares about her patients. She is very knowledgable warm, attentive, and really listens. She is really dedicated to her clients and makes me feel like I have a safe and supportive space. She is truly a great therapist! I highly recommend her!
