He went straight to the point (no extra this or that) he was able to see the problem ASAP. The staff was AMAZ'N, they gave me a great deal and the young lady helped me get the cutest pair of glasses to work in.

Dr. Murtha was great. The facility is pretty grimy and uncomfortable. It's a Cohen's store and you're getting seen in their supplies room. The reviews on this are fake for sure. All of the positive reviews lack any details in any way.
Dr. Murtha did a good job of diagnosing my vision problem and walking me through the medicine. I left with a prescription and a good understanding of what was going on with my vision.

Unprofessional office. Lost paperwork of mine multiple times. They’re all polite but aren’t functional. Came in for a refill and after weeks of back and forth told me they wouldn’t renew the refill because of liability (bogus) Go to someone else I promise you it will be worth the search to not deal with this office, team, and doctor.

Dr Murtha was very nice and the eye exam was great. I hated visiting his office. The process of trying to get glasses there was like being at a used car dealer. It was horrible. They also couldn't get the insurance numbers right, their prices for frames were outrageous, and they were definitely making up the prices on the spot.

Dr Murtha and the team were great. The diagnostic equipment, showroom & stock of frames may need updating. (I'm not a pro but it gets the job done.) Again,great service!

Dr. Murtha was nice enough, but he was clearly rushed and didn't give me the type of attention I had wanted when getting my first eye exam in roughly 4 years. His readings were inconclusive, but slightly worrying about my eye pressure levels, and he did not make me feel at ease, nor did he really do anything other than shove recommendations for other people in my hands and then rush me out the door. The sales people up front were very pushy, trying to get me to buy lenses that were an astronomical amount, something a recent college graduate could absolutely not afford. I was clearly upset and did not want to purchase glasses today, only wanted an eye exam, but the sales person kept presenting me with different options on how to pay, REALLY encouraging me to sign up for some kind of payment plan with a credit card where I would be paying off glasses for the next 7 months. It was a super overwhelming experience and I don't think I'll be returning.

Dr. Murtha was extremely friendly and made me feel at ease during my entire appointment. I have had a small red bump on my upper eyelid for about 5 days, and just noticed over the past day or so that there seems to be an ingrown eyelash in it. I booked my appointment easily on ZocDoc and was happy that the doctor had availability pretty much at any time the next day. I will say that it is my fault that I didn't book an appointment with an Ophthalmologist rather than an Optometrist, because all this doctor could do was look at the bump, tell me that it didn't look infected, and tell me that I should go to an Ophthalmologist if it persisted so that he or she could remove the eyelash. I was charged more than what is indicated on my insurance card and was told this was because I also received a "referral", which consisted of being handed a card for the Ophthalmologist.
The overall visit was not bad, and I realize it was my fault for not seeing the correct type of doctor, however I do not believe the pricing was fair or accurate. A bit of a scam.

It was great, they were patient with me since my insurance was giving me issues. Everything worked out fine eventually and I was glad to have been well trained to fit on my contacts. It took me 20 minutes to learn as opposed to lenscrafters where it took me 1 hr with no luck. It was obvious that the training was better here

There was a slight wait time, like 10 minutes or so. The employee in the store room was friendly. The Doctor was cordial and quick in assessing my contact prescription. The doctor gave me a trial size of dailies and kindly also offered a glasses case for me since I didn't have one on me. Then it got really awkward for the wrap-up because I didn't know that daily lenses cost hundreds of dollars more than the biweeklies. That's a big detail to leave out! While I like the convenience of daily lenses, it would be very hard to budget for them. So only after my appointment do I realize the lenses I just tried out are out of my price range, but then the doctor had started working with another patient so I had to schedule a follow-up appointment to get fitted for biweekly lenses. I don't think anyone there was intentionally trying to upsell me, I think they just overlooked that dailies are not in everyone's price range, and they should be more aware of that for future patients.

Dr. Murtha was fine and very professional. My low rating here is for the Cohen Optical front office salesperson. The entire sales process is extremely sleazy, similar to a used car dealership. It seemed like the salespeople are paid based on commission, which is not how medical profession should operate.
After my eye exam, the sales person took out a blank notepad, and started writing down a bunch of numbers and then used a calculator to add up all of the different costs for getting glasses.
She said I should get sort of special lenses with special coatings, etc and they could also offer financing. When I told her I'll just go somewhere else to get glasses, she hurriedly said they happened to have a special offer that day and could give me a discount.
I ended up getting glasses elsewhere for a fraction of the price.

The staff was super helpful sorting out my health insurance (I had a different provider last year), and Dr. Murtha was really nice as well. I brought up concerns about still having headaches/eye tiredness so he took extra time to look into the causes of that. He also remembered that I was (embarrassingly) unsuccessful at the glaucoma test last time so talked me through it this time and was really patient and nice about it despite my struggles. This is my second visit and I'd highly recommend Dr. Murtha to anyone.

Everyone that works here is very friendly,knowledgeable and eager to help! The doctor was very kind and patient, especially with the glaucoma test which is always difficult for me to get through. While my wait time was longer than expected, it was worth the visit. Another staffer was patiently helping an elderly woman sort out her new glasses and he was super helpful to her and really kind and explanatory.

AWFUL. Made me wait nearly 40 minutes (after I had left early from work to make this appointment). Was clearly rushed, had little interest in answering any of my questions. I went to get a comprehensive eye exam (including dilation) but he said it was too late. The sales people at Cohen's were terrible and so pushy, and refused to give me my PD (which the Dr. said they would). Overall a v poor experience, will never go back.

Dr Murtha and his team are excellent, clean and very organized which is very important to me! Dr Murtha answered all my questions and made the exam very painless,They have a wide selection of glasses and different colors which i really like! Their prices are very reasonable which is really good for me since I'm on a budget! I have a very high prescription , the opticians really helped me pick out a sturdy frame and thin lenses! I love the glasses and i love how light they are ! Highly recommend!

GREAT appointment. He took his time, gave me lots of options. Also, everyone out in the office / near the frames was INCREDIBLE. Super helpful. I couldn't have asked for a better first eye exam in the city. They're not pushy with getting you to buy frames, however, they really are willing to help and make sure you get the best fit, style, and lens type.
