Dr. Steven Kaplan is one of the best painless endodontists in Manhattan. Our goal is to get you out of pain now, and to save your tooth. We've been in practice for over 25 years, and we only do root canals.

The intense pain I was in for my broken tooth made me nearly pass out, so I was desperate in finding an Endodontist ASAP. I called a couple endodontists and all did not have availability until the following week, but Dr. Kaplan and his staff made an appointment for me the very next day. Not only that, when I finally got there the office had really nice staff and then Dr.Kaplan saw me right away. I expected a bit of a wait time so I was surprised! Other than that he was very attentive on the pain I was in and the procedure did take a while but I was genuinely not in extreme pain as i was so nervous I would be. It’s almost a week since I got my root canal and almost no pain at all! It’s amazing! And Dr. Kaplan even called me after to follow up after the appointment, I’ve never had a doctor that would go the extra mile for their patients. I’m so happy I chose compassionate Endodontics for my root canal, I’m due for an appointment soon, and I couldn’t trust anyone more than here.

I needed a root canal urgently over a holiday weekend, Dr. Kaplan was able to squeeze me on the day (but not the time) I booked on Zocdoc. Unfortunately, he does not take my insurance, but the office submitted a claim on my behalf anyway, so I'm hoping to get much of what I paid back eventually.
Dr. Kaplan gave a very clear explanation of what was happening with my tooth and made sure that I wasn't in pain throughout. The only downside to the procedure was that the Dr. and the assistant didn't communicate smoothly together (it seemed like they hadn't worked together before). But in the end, it's the skill of the Dr. that won me over. He also gave me his direct number in case I had any issues, and even called me that evening to make sure I was doing okay.
If you are unfortunate enough to need a root canal, you will find yourself in good hands with Dr. Kaplan.

It is a great office with friendly staff and true experts in root canal. It is dentistry like it should be. As far as timings in zocdoc, they don't correspond properly with actual available times so good chance the office will call to reschedule if you don't call them to confirm.

I had a root canal done after waking up at 2am on a Sunday morning with a toothache. By 2pm that very day, my root canal was performed by another endodontist. She was soooo gentle. Great experience! Since endodontists are specialists, expect to pay a little more than a general dentist, but it was worth it.

Doctor Kaplan and staff were prompt (scheduled me in for an emergency root canal same day I had the tooth ache), empathetic, and quick with followup. Office banter is light-hearted, and it seems like the team really enjoys each other - lots of trust and gentle ribbing. Put me immediately at ease.
While I hopefully don't have to go back, if I do have another root canal, I wouldn't hesitate to call Dr. Kaplan and his team.

Visited Dr Kaplan for root canal. Was skeptical as I had heard it’s a painful process etc but Dr Kaplan made sure that I feel little to almost no discomfort at all! Very calm and extremely skilled clearly , he does a thorough job and puts you at ease! Easily one of the best dentists I have visited in nyc so far. Would definitely recommend !

Dr. Kaplan is truly a wonderful doctor. He knows what he is doing 100%. I was in unbareable pain, and I needed an endodontist immediately. I found Dr. Kaplan on zocdoc and his review were outstanding. I call to confirm my appointment and I was actually able to speak with Dr.Kaplan to explain my situation. I was seen immediately upon arrival. I mostly enjoyed that he played what ever music I wanted to hear while he worked. He is truly a wonderful endodontist.

Dr. Kaplan himself was very nice and was thorough. However, during my appointment, he couldn't find his staff so he had to keep leaving which was annoying; outside of the two hours I had to wait for my appointment that was supposed to be 5 pm, and I didn't get in till 7:30 pm.

Dr Kaplan was excellent in explaining my problem and its solution. Dr Kaplan does not, however, take dental insurance - other doctors in his office do. He was very generous in working with me to find an alternative solution. ZocDoc needs to update this information so it's less confusing.

Dr. Kaplan and his staff were courteous and explained everything that was happening. I had heard that root canals can be painful, but all I experienced was very mild discomfort and incredible relief. The office was really nice and relaxing to boot!

I was expecting the absolute worst of a root canal, but this was truly 100% painless. I've had cleanings that were far more of an ordeal. Dr. Kaplan and staff were wonderful. Should you need an endodontist, I recommend him without reservation.
