Dermatology Institute & Skin Care Center and Clinical Science Institute is a comprehensive medical, clinical research, cosmetic, laser, and surgical dermatology practice in Santa Monica, California and the Los Angeles metropolitan area under the direction of board certified dermatologist, Paul Yamauchi, M.D., Ph.D. Together with Joshua Hekmatjah, M.D. and Sandra Oska M.D., who are board-certified dermatologists, our center provides the highest quality skin treatment services using the most advanced and up to date techniques, cutting edge medications to treat various skin disorders, and state-of-the-art technology. At our facility, the patient always comes first and treatment of the highest caliber is provided for each and every patient.
Dermatology Institute and Skin Care Center is a referral center from other dermatologists and physicians to handle the most complicated skin diseases. One of our areas of expertise is treating patients with psoriasis. Dr. Yamauchi is a national and international expert on the treatment of psoriasis and is dedicated to treating people with moderate to severe psoriasis. They sent a blank lab form for my blood test (ie, no specified test was listed), with a Dr. that’s not on staff listed as the ordering physician. I wasted time at the lab while they called your office to clarify all this missing/confusing info.
Also: No one was available after my appointment to clarify a
question about my prescriptions.

I was expecting the Dr to be a little more thorough during my visit. He didn’t take the time to go over all of my concerns and I felt he was rushing through the appointment. I had to wait about two months for this appointment and I’m totally disappointed. I need to look for another cosmetology Doctor. He might be good for you if you have a skin desease.

Dr. Yamauchi is a miracle worker. My psoriasis was cleared and continue to be cleared for the past 5 years. I have referred others for eczema and psoriasis and they have the same caring experience. This office randomly changed my appointment to the next day which was harder for me to get to. When I got there, I waited more than 40 minutes for the doctor who never showed up. I told the staff I had to leave by a certain time and they reassured me the doctor would be in, but she never arrived. When I left, the front desk never offered to reschedule. They just watched me walk out after I told them what happened. All in all, I felt very dismissed by the lack of apology or follow up. The waiting room was also packed with people who looked like they were waiting a long time.

Dr Oska was smart, friendly and diagnosed me instantly. She was great. 5 stars.
Getting my prescription from the front desk was a different story. I was told I'd get it hopefully within an hour, as they knew it was urgent - instead I had to call numerous times to get it processed. I was even told on one call they normally do all the prescriptions at the end of the day, which I've never heard of.
Anyway from a 10AM appointment I finally got my urgent prescription just before the pharmacy closed at 5PM.
I don't like leaving bad reviews but this seemed like a pretty big miss for me.

What a fantastic, easy and anxiety reducing doctors visit. I was admittedly nervous because getting my skin checked after a long time having not, Dr. Oska, her PA Anna, and the office were all so easy to deal with and talk to. She did a full body scan and alleviated my worries about some moles I have. She also quickly biopsied and removed something I wasn’t aware of so efficiently I barely had time to feel stressed. Happy to have finally found a Dermatologist I can feel at ease going back to.
