Dr. Robert Okin

Dr. Okin is a psychiatrist in private practice, and treats people with depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, PTSD, relationship problems, and people who are stuck in their lives. He uses a combination of approaches depending on the individual: sometimes this is psychotherapy, sometimes medication, sometimes both. He is intuitive and thoughtful, and respectful of the patient's preferences and goals. Dr. Robert Okin is a nationally and internationally known figure in public psychiatry. He served three Governors as Commissioner of Mental Health for the states of Vermont and Massachusetts and was Chief of Psychiatry at San Francisco General Hospital for 17 years until January 2009.   In addition he has had a long tenure as Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at UCSF School of Medicine where he has taught many classes of young psychiatrists.
