What is Semaglutide ?
Semaglutide is a derivative of the naturally occurring GLP-1, a peptide known to lower blood sugar levels and enhance insulin secretion. Research shows that Semaglutide may also improve heart, liver, and lung function while helping to slow or prevent the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. Semaglutide has been shown to significantly decrease appetite by delaying gastric emptying and reducing intestinal motility. Contraindications:
You should not use semaglutide if you are allergic to it, or if you have:
BMI under 30,
Eating disorder,

GLP 1 and satety
Glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) is a cleavage product of the pre-proglucagon gene which is expressed in the a-cells of the pancreas, the L-cells of the intestine, and neurons located in the caudal brainstem and hypothalamus. GLP-1 is of relevance to appetite and weight maintenance because it has actions on the gastrointestinal tract as well as the direct regulation of appetite. It delays gastric emptying and gut motility in humans. In addition, interventricular injections of GLP-1 inhibit food intake, independent of the presence of food in the stomach or gastric emptying. Peripherally administered GLP-1 also affects the central regulation of feeding. It is therefore the synergistic actions of GLP-1 in the gut and brain, acting on both central and peripheral receptors that seem responsible for the effects of the hormone on satiety.
GLP 1 and Cardiovascular effects
In addition to its anti-diabetic effects, GLP-1 has demonstrated cardioprotective actions and help the blood pressure, heart rate and lipid profiles, as well as their potential prevention on cardiovascular events, such as arrhythmias, heart failure, myocardial infarction and death.
GLP1 and the Brain
GLP-1 possesses broader pharmacological effects including anti-inflammation, neuro-protection, regulating blood pressure (BP), and reducing lipotoxicity. These effects are interconnected to the physiological and pathological processes of Alzheimer's disease (AD), hypertension, and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonists have reduce neuroinflammation and oxidative stress, neurotrophic effects, decreasing Aß deposition and tau hyperphosphorylation in AD models, which may be a potential drug for the treatment of Alzheimer's Disease. However, this needs to be verified by further clinical trials.
