Earthly Balance Mental Wellness

Methods & Philosophy of Care Our practice is rooted in the belief that mental health care during the reproductive years should be compassionate, evidence-based, and deeply individualized. We support women before, during, and after pregnancy through thoughtful psychiatric consultation, comprehensive evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy—always honoring the unique emotional, physical, and relational changes that accompany this season of life. We take a whole-person, whole-family approach, recognizing that perinatal mental health is influenced by biology, lived experience, relationships, culture, and environment. Care is collaborative and empowering, with a strong emphasis on shared decision-making so clients feel informed, respected, and supported at every step. Our Approach to Care Trauma-informed and compassionate We understand that many individuals carry past trauma, birth-related stress, or reproductive loss. Care is provided in a safe, non-judgmental space where clients are met with empathy and dignity, and treatment is paced according to each person’s readiness and needs. Evidence-based and personalized Treatment plans are guided by current research in perinatal psychiatry and psychotherapy, while remaining flexible and tailored to the individual. This includes careful consideration of medication use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, balancing mental health needs with maternal and infant well-being. Integrated psychotherapy and medication management We value the synergy between therapy and medication when appropriate. Psychotherapy may include supportive, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based, and relational approaches, integrated with medication management to support both symptom relief and long-term emotional resilience. Collaborative and coordinated care We work closely with obstetric providers, midwives, primary care clinicians, therapists, and other members of the care team when desired, fostering continuity and comprehensive support throughout pregnancy and postpartum. Strength-based and empowering Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, we highlight strengths, coping skills, and personal values. Our goal is not only to reduce distress, but to help clients build confidence, self-trust, and a sense of stability as they navigate parenthood and identity changes. Points of Distinction Specialized expertise in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) Thoughtful, conservative, and informed approach to psychiatric medication in pregnancy and lactation Emphasis on relationship-centered and family-aware care Extended consultations that allow time for education, questions, and shared decision-making A welcoming, inclusive practice that honors diverse family structures, identities, and cultural backgrounds At the heart of our practice is a simple commitment: to walk alongside women and families during one of life’s most vulnerable and transformative seasons, offering care that is clinically sound, emotionally attuned, and deeply human.
