Elizabeth Berry, LPC – Atlas Counseling | Neuro-Affirming Somatic & Depth Therapy
Welcome to Atlas Counseling: A Space for the Deep-Thinking and Sensory-Aware
Are you an AuDHD adult or a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) feeling the weight of a world not designed for your internal architecture? Do you find yourself trapped in cycles of executive function burnout, sensory overwhelm, or 'top-down' talk therapy that feels like it’s only scratching the surface?
I am Elizabeth Berry, LPC, an independently licensed Professional Counselor in Wisconsin and the founder of Atlas Counseling. My practice, located in the heart of Eau Claire, WI, is dedicated to providing intellectually rigorous, somatically grounded, and neuro-affirming therapy. I specialize in supporting individuals who navigate the world with a deep-thinking and sensory-aware perspective. By blending the clinical precision of the Atlas Framework with a creative, holistic lens, I help my clients move beyond mere symptom management toward true clinical growth and sustainable nervous system regulation.
The Atlas Framework: Integrating Body and Mind
In my practice, we recognize that sustainable clinical outcomes require a focus on autonomic safety and sensory protection. If your nervous system feels under constant threat, traditional cognitive strategies often fail to take root. The Atlas Framework is my proprietary clinical approach that integrates several high-level modalities:
1. Somatic Therapy & Autonomic Safety
Rather than focusing solely on talk therapy, we identify how your internal sensory architecture and 'autonomic maps' influence your daily functioning. We work from the bottom up to ensure your body feels safe enough to process cognitive change.
2. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
We utilize ACT to foster cognitive flexibility. For the neurodivergent (AuDHD) mind, learning to navigate thoughts without being fused to them is critical for reducing the friction of daily life.
3. Jungian Perspectives & Depth Work
For those who identify as deep thinkers, Jungian-informed therapy provides an inquisitive lens to explore the 'internal maps' of the subconscious. We look at the patterns, symbols, and archetypes that shape your identity.
4. Neuro-Affirming Advocacy
As an AuDHD and HSP practitioner myself, I understand the clinical importance of building a world that fits your internal architecture, rather than forcing yourself to fit the world. My approach is strictly neuro-affirming, meaning we celebrate your neuro-type while providing practical strategies for the challenges of a neurotypical society.
Specialized Clinical Focus Areas
While my practice is holistic, I have deep clinical expertise in the following areas:
Neurodivergence: AuDHD, Autism, and ADHD
I provide a sanctuary for adults with ADHD and Autism (AuDHD). We focus on:
Executive Function Energy: Managing the high cost of daily tasks.
Sensory Profiles: Understanding your unique sensory needs.
Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD): Navigating the intense emotional responses common in neurodivergent populations.
Anxiety and Panic Disorders
For those experiencing high-functioning anxiety or debilitating panic, we use somatic grounding and vagus nerve regulation to find safety in the present moment.
Women’s Issues & Identity
I support women in navigating late-diagnosed neurodivergence, relationship issues, and the unique pressures placed on women in professional and domestic spheres.
Relationship Issues & Communication
Using an affirming and inquisitive lens, we explore how different neuro-types interact within relationships and how to build communication styles that respect both partners' sensory and cognitive needs.
Your Journey: The Clinical Intake (90791)
Your first appointment is a comprehensive clinical intake and diagnostic evaluation. This 55-minute session is designed to:
Assess Autonomic Safety: Where is your nervous system currently residing?
Map Your Sensory Profile: What are your internal and external triggers?
Identify Goals: We will collaboratively begin a treatment plan tailored to your unique sensory and cognitive needs.
By the end of this session, you will have a clear understanding of the Atlas Framework and how we will work together to update your internal maps for a more regulated life.
Professional Credentials & Experience
I bring 6 years of clinical experience to my practice, supported by a rigorous academic and professional background:
License: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Wisconsin (License #12380-125).
Education: Master of Science in Education (MSE) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
Clinical Training: Advanced training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Trauma-Focused CBT.

Frequently Asked Questions about Somatic Therapy
What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic therapy is a body-centric approach that tracks the relationship between the mind and the body. At Atlas Counseling, we use it to help you identify where you hold stress and how to release it to achieve nervous system safety.
How does neuro-affirming care differ from traditional therapy?
Traditional therapy often seeks to 'fix' behaviors. Neuro-affirming care recognizes that your brain works differently and seeks to provide tools that work with your brain, not against it.
