Emily Sledge Therapy

I was drawn to becoming a therapist because of the powerful role therapy has played in my own life. I remain passionate about the work because of the growth and healing I have the honor of co-creating with clients. My approach is warm and empowering, with a large focus on helping you create safety in your body, get to know and love all parts of yourself, relate to your thoughts and emotions in a healthy way, and take committed action toward whatever is most important to you. I use evidence-based modalities including ACT, ERP, DBT, and Written Exposure Therapy. My top priority is for your body and brain to feel safe, accepted, and free to be exactly yourself in my presence. In the intake process, I will ask questions about your history, challenges, strengths, and goals. I will also complete a few assessments based on your presenting issues to get a baseline for your symptoms, so that we can regularly track your progress. Therapy with me is an active healing process of learning about yourself and gaining the skills to live a full, meaningful life and begin feeling better. It is important to be committed to practicing these skills between sessions, so that you can see the growth you desire. One of my top priorities as a therapist is to seek out regular trainings on the most effective and research-based treatments available. I have completed a training on Written Exposure Therapy for treating the effects of traumatic experiences, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy trainings, and have a decade of experience with DBT. I also do regular trainings on Exposure and Response Prevention, read the latest research and books, and signed up for a consultation group to keep my skills sharp.
