Empowering Others to Live Happier Lives. I am Jennifer Evans, LPC, LMHC. I am a board-certified therapist in multiple states and over 20 years of counseling experience, with a proven success of reaching remission in Depression with my clients in one session; this is within the 95th percentile of clinicians measured. I am passionate about effecting change and helping work with people to achieve insight in order to gain maximum potential and reach their most desired visions and goals. I know personally and professionally, how difficult it is to get here and I am proud of your first step and commitment to change. I know I can be of valued support as we work together to reach success, insight, and overcome emotional and psychosocial stressors.
A little more about me; I was born and raised in Florida. I did my undergraduate at Florida State University, and moved to Virginia to attend Eastern Virginia Medical School, where I studied clinical counseling and received my Master’s in Art Therapy. As a military spouse, we relocated many times, having to redevelop my career each duty station, which gave me a myriad of experiences with various populations. This has lead me to focus on occupational counseling and the effects of stress on our mental health. My passion for treatment is trauma and life experiences that lead us to feel fearful, unsafe, and saddened; sometimes with no explanation as to why we feel the way we do. I work with my client’s in a person-centered format with cognitive-behavioral underpinnings and psychoeducation to not only work through and build a better understanding of ourselves but the experiences and beliefs that built us and ways to endure and build resiliency to better manager those feelings so they are not as overwhelming in the future.

TLDR:
Jennifer might work great for you but she did not work out for my situation.
Positives:
So Jennifer was definitely insightful and very quick to figure out things that were unspoken. The meetings happened on time and no problems reaching during non-session hours.
Negatives:
Within the first few moments of the first session I felt unable to explain why I was there without assumptions or judgement. It didn't feel like a safe space. There was poor communication about appointments and their nature. There was a strong feeling that Jennifer wasn't really listening to the issues and how the issues were impactful but only wanting to engage in her idea of fixing them. There was too much disrespect to feel comfortable in sessions.

I cannot recommend Jennifer enough. Jennifer is the most wonderful counselor I have ever had. In the short time I have worked with her she has helped me in ways none of my past counselors have.
