As a comprehensive Ophthalmologist, Dr. Ooi routinely performs cataracts and glaucoma surgeries in an outpatient setting, in addition to doing many minor procedures in office including chalazion and other lid lesions removal, laser treatment for diabetic eye disease, etc. He also offers premium intraocular lens implants during cataract surgeries for any good surgical candidates. Moreover, Dr. Ooi is especially interested at utilizing various minimally invasive procedures to treat difficult eye diseases like Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty for glaucoma and intravitreal injections of Lucentis or Avastin for wet macular degeneration and retinal vein occlusion.

I had seen the doctor many years ago, but he still remembered me. Relevant medical issues were raised, and a followup appointment was scheduled. A new prescription was written, which I'll have glasses made for. Altogether, except for the medical issues, a very positive experience.

Was greeted to a lovely calm environment by Stone, Dr. Ooi's assistant. Dr. Ooi answered all my questions including questions I didn't think to ask about my condition during the exam. Dr. Heo-Jeng Ooi and his staff are always very courteous and considerate of their patients. Dr. Heo-Jeng Ooi is also super funny and social, which I appreciate because I'm not a fan of letting anything (medical equipment included) near my eyes! If visits to the optometrist make you queasy, he's probably a good fit for you.

Spent about 5 mins filling in missing info and being ushered into an exam room. After finishing up there I sat for less than 5 mins for the Doctor to see me. His bedside manner was exceptional. At one point I asked him about an issue in my family history and he gave an excellent and thorough explanation for my risk factors, prevention, and warning signs that I should be aware of. He didn't rush me through like some other doctors have in the past. Both he and the staff were personable and professional, and I would highly recommend them.

Dr. Ooi is fantastic. Very professional, friendly, and takes time to explain every aspect of the exam. His office staff was less than pleasant, unfortunately. The staff member who did the pre-exam tests didn't explain what she was doing, which put me on edge, and she seemed rushed and irritated. Dr. Ooi made up for any customer service issues at the beginning of the appointment, though.
