Dr. Ken Fortier is a preeminent, experienced provider of women’s healthcare known throughout the Triangle area for his compassionate, personalized, and patient-centered practice style. He has been on the faculty of obstetrics and gynecology at both Duke University and the University of North Carolina.
After graduating from Dartmouth College (summa cum laude) and Dartmouth Medical School, he trained in obstetrics and gynecology and joined the faculty at Duke University School of Medicine, where he was known for patient-centered care and award-winning teaching.
He has since enjoyed private practice of ob/gyn in Raleigh and is currently a clinical professor at UNC School of Medicine, where he has developed and teaches popular courses on compassion in medical care. He is board-certified in both ob/gyn and pathology (the formal study of diseases).
He has established Fortier Gynecology as an intentionally small and personalized practice for both well-woman and expert gynecologic care. His practice offers a place where women can feel comfortable and receive truly individualized professional care from a doctor and staff who know them. He hopes to provide respite from the often rushed and sometimes impersonal experiences in larger, more corporate practices.
His practice philosophy:
“I honor the special trust that patients place in their physician. My goal is to listen attentively, understand the patient’s goals, and conscientiously apply my knowledge, skills, and experience to help meet them.
“Compassion is the heart of medical care. Patients should always be heard, appreciated, and treated with dignity and respect. We will maintain excellent health, recommend up-to-date screening schedules, and work through problems together without giving up.”
