Gautam K. Malhotra, MD, PhD
Dr. Malhotra is a board certified surgeon who specializes in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgical Oncologist. He is a California native, who completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees at the University of California at Berkeley before moving to the Midwest to complete his MD, PhD, and general surgery training. He returned to California and completed his subspecialty training in Complex Surgical Oncology at the City of Hope Cancer Center before being recruited to USC to provide the latest in surgical care for cancer patients.
Dr. Malhotra has a special interest and expertise in minimally invasive techniques including laparoscopic and robotic surgery. He is also engaged in innovative research with a focus on early detection of pancreatic cancer and novel treatments for colorectal liver metastasis. Dr. Malhotra has presented his work at national and international conferences and has won numerous awards for his research and clinical excellence. Dr. Malhotra chose Keck Medicine because of the opportunity to work closely with patients while continuing his research. He also enjoys the opportunity to give his patients the benefit of leading-edge technology and the latest research.

Most relevant
Dr. Malhotra was amazing. He is very calm and extremely knowledgeable. Everyone in my family appreciated how well he explained things. Other surgeons had said my tumor was not resectable but Dr. Malhotra had a plan for me. After some initial chemo he took me to surgery and cut out 8 spots in my liver. I'm back on chemo but cancer free!! thank you so much Dr. G!!! :)

He is fantastic, such a great way of explaining things. He draws everything out and explains it in a way that anyone can understand. I had a bad cancer diagnosis and was worried, but he took care of everything. I had a 6 hour surgery but at least the cancer is out of me!! thank you! I don't really need to see him anymore but I still go :)
