Georgia Psychiatric Consultants

At Georgia Psychiatric Consultants, we provide compassionate, evidence-based care for adults experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and other psychiatric conditions. Our goal is to help patients achieve lasting improvement in mood, clarity, and functioning through a careful balance of science, clinical expertise, and individualized attention. Led by David Purselle, MD, MSCR, our practice is grounded in the biopsychosocial model of mental health, recognizing that biological, psychological, and social factors all play critical roles in emotional well-being. We take time to understand your full history, experiences, and goals, and then design a comprehensive plan that supports both symptom relief and long-term stability. Our Approach Dr. Purselle provides thorough psychiatric evaluations and individualized medication management, integrating the latest research and clinical best practices. Treatment plans are personalized to your needs and may include lifestyle recommendations, coordination with therapists or primary care providers, and advanced therapeutic options for treatment-resistant cases. While Dr. Purselle does not provide formal psychotherapy, he places strong emphasis on collaboration, education, and communication—helping patients understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and expected outcomes. Our practice specializes in managing: Major Depressive Disorder Bipolar I and II Disorders Generalized Anxiety and Panic Disorders Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Adult ADHD Treatment-Resistant Depression Advanced Treatment Options For patients who haven’t experienced adequate relief with traditional treatments, Georgia Psychiatric Consultants offers innovative therapies that target the brain in new and more effective ways: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) – A safe, noninvasive treatment that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate specific areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. TMS is FDA-approved for depression and offers a valuable option for patients who have not responded to medication alone. Ketamine and Spravato® (Esketamine) Therapy – These treatments can rapidly improve symptoms of depression, especially in individuals with treatment-resistant depression or suicidal thoughts. Our team provides a structured, medically supervised environment for administration and follow-up, ensuring safety and optimal response. By combining advanced therapies with traditional medication management, we help patients access a full range of options that reflect the most current evidence in psychiatry. Clinical Research and Innovation Dr. Purselle is also the Medical Director of Advanced Discovery Research, a clinical research site based in Atlanta that conducts Phase II–IV clinical trials for mood, anxiety, psychotic, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Through this work, he contributes to the development of next-generation psychiatric treatments and provides opportunities for patients to participate in cutting-edge research studies. This commitment to research ensures that the care we provide is informed by the latest discoveries in neuroscience and psychopharmacology. Patients benefit from a practice that not only delivers today’s best treatments, but also helps shape the future of mental health care. Telehealth and Accessibility We offer both in-person and telehealth appointments to make care more convenient and accessible. Telepsychiatry visits are conducted securely through our HIPAA-compliant platform, allowing you to connect with Dr. Purselle from the comfort of your home or office. Appointments can be scheduled online, and new patients are always welcome. Payment and Policies Our practice operates on a self-pay model, allowing us to focus entirely on patient-centered care without the restrictions imposed by insurance. Payment is due at the time of service and can be made conveniently online prior to telehealth appointments or upon arrival for in-person visits. We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards. If you wish to seek reimbursement from your insurance provider, we can provide a detailed receipt (superbill) upon request. This direct-pay model supports privacy, flexibility, and clinical independence—ensuring that every treatment decision is based solely on what’s best for you. Our Philosophy At Georgia Psychiatric Consultants, we believe that effective psychiatric care starts with understanding the whole person. We don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach; instead, we focus on your individual story, biology, and environment to design a treatment plan that aligns with your life and goals. Our mission is to provide thoughtful, science-driven, and compassionate care that empowers you to regain control of your mental health. Whether through traditional medication management, innovative treatments like TMS or Spravato®, or participation in clinical research, we are committed to helping you move toward lasting stability and well-being.
