Greenpoint Pediatric Dentistry: Sedation
At Greenpoint Pediatric Dentistry, we believe every child deserves excellent dental health and a healthy glowing smile. So we offer more than just expert pediatric dental care.
Our dentist anesthesiologist provides sedation that ensures the highest level of safety so that fear, struggle, and anxiety no longer have to come between our patients and the care they deserve.
Please note that from September 11, 2021 forward, we have limited our scope of practice to only Dr. Hansford's combined specialties. In other words, we are only seeing patients for:
1) Dentistry under Sedation
2) Dentistry under General Anesthesia
We are no longer seeing patients for routine care such as hygiene and operative appointments including N20 (laughing gas)

They refused to give me a Dr's note saying the type of procedure that my son got. They said they don't want to be involved in the court. Every patient has the right to have this document from any doctor. I'm not coming back.

Dr. Hansford was beyond amazing with my daughter, we only waited a short time prior to starting the process for the procedure, of which was over so quickly we were able to return home and begin recovery much quicker than expected.

We waited at most 10 minutes to be called. They had to retake x-rays, which did add a little time, but he was honest about the procedure, aftercare, follow-up appointments and was very kind. What I appreciated was that he spoke very plainly without dumbing anything down. The procedure was quick, son was awake the entire time and they do take the time to notice to the child (pain, nerves) while working. We were in and out in an hour.

My visit went well, I have 2 years old boy and girl twins, I went in to get a second opinion about my babygirl teeth, one dentist i went to wanted to automatically extract them. I didnt agree so I searched for a new dentist. I seen great reviews on John Hansford and made an appointment he gave me hope that 4 of my little girl teeth can be saved. He was very detailed about the procedure and process. Unfortunately her teeth wasn’t able to get saved so he eventually had to extract them. Made me cry but he knew wat he was doing.

Of course I wasnt happy to bring my child to the dentist because he mad numerous cavities. But I did and this was far most a excellent service dentistry. The dentist broke down all the information I needed. And tge best part my son came home and didnt even remember anything. Also what I loved was after leaving the dentistry the receptionist called to see how my son was doing which meant a lot to me.

Dr. Hansford is a phenomenal doctor, However he does not take the time to give you all possible affordable solutions and to ensure your will be covered. It's his suggestion and you either pay up whatever that will cost or he won't treat you at all. Coming form a low income household, it can be an immense struggle to receive quality care.

Staff was friendly and professional. They explained as they went along. Dr. Handford was also very friendly and professional. My kids felt at ease during the entire visit.

Dr.John was very informative guided us through every step of the way. He was patient and open to answer any questions we had ! Excellent doctor could have not asked for a better doctor for my daughter. My daughter had to pull out her tooth under anesthesia he explained our options very detailed pros and cons. Once we decided what was best for our daughter we scheduled our appointment. The experience was fantastic with him and his staff totally made my daughter feel comfortable. Will definitely recommend. I also forgot to mention our wait time was fantastic! The most we waited to be seen was 10 minutes.

New message from Greenpoint Pediatric Dentistry:
This is the only pediatric dentist who can handle everything. It’s because he is one of the only pediatric dentists in the world that also completed a residency in anesthesiology. His partner, Dr. Jody Jones, is a physician anesthesiologist, and together they can help any child. My son has autism and epilepsy and we’ve seen a lot of pediatric dentists. When he was younger he could be seen for cleanings, but as he got older the other offices we tried couldn’t help us. He was in pain, I would take him in, and we would be turned away. Greenpoint Pediatric Dentistry is the best. We’ve had general anesthesia for some big work with Drs. Hansford and Jones, and we’ve had sedation for quick extractions with Dr. Hansford. My son never remembers the experience and we are so thankful to these great doctors who know how to help, not just clean teeth and send you away when there is a real problem.

I have been coming to this office for over a year, and it is still a great stress free environment! There have been some upgrades, and as a patient you now have access to watch netflix during your cleaning instead of staring quietly at a light (which is what I remember doing when I was a kid at the dentist).
And most importantly no matter what age you are you still get a sticker for a job well done!

I would never go back to see Dr. Hansford again! He was very cold and rough with my 9 year old daughter. It was such a bad experience, I hope she isn’t scarred for life! She was in so much pain, he didn’t care to stop, or console her. He also never introduced himself to me or my daughter, just went straight to work. Horrible bed side manner!

I saw Dr. Hansford for my wisdom teeth. My initial consult was a breeze and I was quickly scheduled for a wisdom tooth extraction.
Word of advice: GPD sends you the check-in forms via email prior to your appointment. I was able to fill them out ahead of time and had a much easier check-in process at the office.
