Innovative Urology
Innovative Urology, P.A., doing business as Men’s Wellness Institute of New Jersey, provides discreet, straightforward, evidence-based urologic and men’s health care.
The practice was founded by Domenico Savatta, MD, a board-certified urologist and experienced robotic surgeon who has performed more than 3,000 robotic procedures. Dr. Savatta trained as an engineer before attending medical school, and that combination of engineering, surgery, and personal experience as a patient has shaped the way the practice is designed.
Medicine has become increasingly complex and corporatized. Patients often move between offices, portals, laboratories, imaging centers, and specialists without one person helping them understand the full picture. Dr. Savatta created Innovative Urology and Men’s Wellness Institute of New Jersey to provide the type of healthcare experience he would want as a patient: personal attention, clear explanations, organized follow-through, and responsible use of technology.
Urologic and men’s health concerns are common, treatable, and handled discreetly. Patients should not feel embarrassed about asking for help with urinary symptoms, sexual health, hormonal concerns, fertility, prostate health, or other sensitive issues.
Conditions and concerns evaluated
The practice provides evaluation, education, and treatment planning for a broad range of urologic and men’s health concerns, including:
* Enlarged prostate and urinary symptoms
* Frequent urination, urgency, weak stream, and nighttime urination
* Prostate cancer screening and elevated PSA
* Prostate, kidney, and bladder cancer
* Kidney masses and kidney cancer
* Kidney stones
* Blood in the urine
* Erectile dysfunction
* Low testosterone symptoms
* Peyronie’s disease
* Testicular pain and scrotal concerns
* Male fertility and reproductive health
* Vasectomy counseling
* Urinary infections
* Second opinions
* Robotic and minimally invasive surgery consultations
* General men’s health screening and coordination
When specialty care, surgery, imaging, laboratory testing, or another clinician is needed, the goal is to explain the options clearly and help the patient understand the next step.
A technology-supported practice
Dr. Savatta is also the founder of a healthcare software company that develops tools intended to make care more organized, accessible, and personal.
Technology may be used to support:
* Pre-visit health questionnaires
* Symptom screening
* Patient education
* Medication and health-history organization
* Follow-up reminders
* Tracking of symptoms and treatment progress
* Communication with the care team
* Preparation for appointments
* Clinician summaries that reduce repetitive questioning
* Coordination between telehealth and in-person care
The purpose of these tools is not to replace the physician-patient relationship. Technology and artificial intelligence may assist with organization, education, and workflow, but clinicians remain responsible for medical judgment, recommendations, and patient care.
The practice is developing connected patient applications through Men’s Wellness Institute of New Jersey and LA Digital Systems. These tools are designed to help patients become more active participants in their health while giving the clinical team better information for each visit.
Not every patient will use every technology feature, and traditional communication remains available when appropriate. Patients who are less comfortable with technology are welcome and will be supported by the care team.
A more complete approach to men’s health
Many men do not have one place where urinary health, sexual health, prostate screening, weight, sleep, mood, smoking, metabolic health, and preventive care are considered together.
Men’s Wellness Institute of New Jersey was created as a front door for these conversations. The goal is to identify concerns earlier, organize the patient’s information, and help determine whether the next step should involve a urologist, primary care physician, mental health professional, sleep specialist, weight-management clinician, or another qualified professional.
The practice is not intended to replace a patient’s primary care physician. Patients should continue routine primary care for blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, vaccinations, annual physicals, and other general medical conditions. When appropriate, our team can identify potential concerns and recommend follow-up with the patient’s primary care physician or another specialist.
Telehealth and in-person care
Depending on the medical concern and the patient’s location, appointments may be available through telehealth or in person.
Telehealth can be helpful for:
* Initial discussions
* Review of symptoms
* Second opinions
* Review of records or imaging
* Men’s health concerns
* Treatment follow-up
* Education and care planning
Some conditions require a physical examination, urine testing, laboratory work, imaging, procedures, or in-person evaluation. The practice will explain when an office visit or another level of care is appropriate.
Clear options and measurable follow-through
The practice emphasizes:
* Plain-English explanations
* Shared decision-making
* Evidence-based recommendations
* Respect for patient preferences
* Transparent discussion of alternatives
* Appropriate use of testing and treatment
* Follow-up after results and treatment decisions
There is rarely one correct procedure or treatment for every patient. Recommendations depend on the diagnosis, symptoms, test results, medical history, goals, insurance considerations, and the benefits and limitations of each option.
Insurance and payment
The practice works to offer in-network care when appropriate and available. Insurance participation may vary by clinician, location, service, and health plan.
Some services may be out-of-network, self-pay, optional, or not covered by insurance. Any cash-pay or non-covered option should be discussed transparently before the service whenever possible. Investigational services, if offered, will be clearly identified as investigational and will not be presented as established or guaranteed treatment.
Patients should confirm coverage directly with their insurance company because benefits, deductibles, referrals, and authorization requirements vary by plan.
Your visit
Patients are encouraged to bring or upload relevant information, including:
* Medication and allergy lists
* Prior laboratory results
* PSA history
* Imaging reports and images
* Operative reports
* Pathology results
* Prior urology records
* A list of symptoms and questions
Providing this information before the appointment may allow the team to prepare more thoroughly and make the visit more useful.
