As a seasoned therapist, I have learned that an integrative approach is not only preferred but the only way to truly help people. One size does not fit all. Only by selecting from multiple counseling frameworks and applying a tailored helping approach can counseling be truly effective. And the ability to successfully accomplish this is a product of experience and time. As first generation an Asian-American I work successfully with Asian individuals who contend with immigration trauma, acculturation and family issues unique to the Asian culture. I also work with complicated grief and loss experiences, and chronic health problems and illnesses. A special interest of mine is to help those who are considering a new direction in life such as a career change or relocation, and a niche subset of the population I help are neurodivergent individuals who may experience spectrum traits that can cause personal and interpersonal struggles. These individuals are often gifted, creative and highly sensitive (HSP) but are unaware of their exceptionalness.
