Jada Williams
Hello everyone and welcome to your new beginning! Firstly, I'd like to thank you for considering me in your therapy journey. This can be a nerve-wrecking and uncertain decision and I'm honored to be your potential therapist. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and completed my master’s in counseling at North Carolina A&T State University. I’m a rostered TF-CBT therapist and practice through a trauma-informed lens, helping clients feel safe, seen, and empowered.
My main modality is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with many aspects of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. This will look like identifying consistent behaviors, thoughts and feelings and working to provide alternatives. DBT will come in handy with distress tolerance and manage intense emotional shifts with the proper tools.
I have 3, going on 4, years of experiences helping children, adults, and families with trauma. That includes situational and generational trauma. Due to me being a rostered TF-CBT therapist, I implement trauma informed care into my therapy.
I work with clients who may display trauma responses as a result of family or relationship experiences. The first few sessions will include getting more history on those experiences and how it affects you in present day. With trauma, finding tools to help ground your emotions is essential to being able to both process and implement changes. That will be the main focus in the beginning stages.
