Life is filled with moments of immense beauty, and intense grief. It can be challenging to remain sane in the midst of such high highs and low lows. I learned this first hand as a Marine Corps officer, and as a cancer caregiver for my stepfather. Those journeys led me to my career at major cancer institutions where I have provided counseling to families for over seven years. In addition to supporting families through the cancer trajectory, I help men of all ages find answers to questions like 'What does it mean to be a man?' and 'How can I express masculinity in a way that focuses on love, not self destruction?'
I believe a strong, trusting, nonjudgmental relationship between therapist and client is the most effective therapeutic tool. To support that relationship I also use evidence based techniques such as CBT, psychodynamic therapy, grief counseling, mindfulness, and others to help clients achieve their goals.
Being a cancer patient or caregiver is hard. Figuring out how to express masculinity in a healthy way is hard, too. Together we can chart a path through pain to healing.
