Jake Sims, LMFT

I’m Jake Sims, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I believe healing begins with understanding the stories we’ve consciously and subconsciously tell ourselves. Stories about who we’re supposed to be, how we relate to others, and what it means to belong. These narratives often shape our emotions, behaviors, and relationships in ways we don’t always realize. Therapy is a space to pause, reflect, and begin reshaping those stories into something more true and freeing. My approach is grounded in psychodynamic and relational psychotherapy, which means I’m interested in how your early relationships and unconscious patterns continue to influence your present-day experiences. I also draw from integrative methods, incorporating mindfulness, self-compassion, and acceptance-based practices to help you reconnect with yourself in a grounded and meaningful way. My background in contemplative traditions deeply informs the way I work, offering not just insight, but a more embodied path toward change. Clients often tell me, “You’re the first person I’ve ever said this to.” I hold that kind of trust with care. You can expect me to meet you with warmth, curiosity, and respect. I won’t judge you, but I will gently challenge you to explore what’s beneath the surface, because that’s often where the real transformation happens. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or simply feeling stuck, we’ll work together to understand the patterns at play and develop more compassionate, conscious ways of being. You don’t have to carry everything alone. Together, we’ll explore the coping strategies that once helped you survive, but may no longer serve you, and create new pathways toward clarity, connection, and ease.

Jake is incredibly easy to talk to. He takes his time—whether the issue feels big or small—and genuinely makes you feel heard and seen. His thoughtful, steady approach has been truly helpful in guiding me through some significant challenges. Honestly, I’m not sure I would have worked through them without his support. I wholeheartedly recommend him.

Very easy to talk to, left with a new found clarity and relief. It took me a while to find care I’m comfortable with, so this feels like a big step. Grateful.
