Jason A. Wheeler, Ph.D.
I specialize in individual and couples therapy, particularly for people negotiating midlife crises and transitions. I can help you to understand yourself and other people better, and to find meaning for yourself in midlife and beyond. For couples work, broadly speaking, I have experience working with nonconventional relationships, and am queer, kink, and poly friendly.
Ask a prospective therapist about their training and experience. I have Bachelor's and Master's degrees from British universities, my Ph.D. in Psychology from The New School, and a postdoctoral Certificate in Psychoanalysis, totaling over a dozen years of professional education. I trained in hospitals and treatment centers throughout NYC.
I'm a faculty member of the Psychoanalytic Association of New York, where I teach and supervise professionals in our postgraduate programs in psychotherapy, and am also the Chair of our Consultation and Treatment Service. In addition, I write and edit for international therapy journals. I'm originally from England, but trained in New York City.

Dr. Wheeler has a very calming presence and knows how to strike the balance between listening and proscribing advice.

He is a consummate professional. I would definitely recommend him. Did a very thorough intake session.

Dr. Wheeler's calm, thoughtful and practical approach has been extremely helpful - and this comes from something of a skeptic who did not really know what to expect.
Bob L.Verified patient
Dr. Wheeler is professional and very helpful. He provides a comfortable environment to openly communicate with no air of intimidation and has given me tools to aid in the challenges that I was facing. I highly recommend Dr. Wheeler.

Dr. Wheeler helped me to take new steps in my career after a long time spent going in circles. He gave smart & compassionate advice.
ASVerified patient
He was a good listener, and was non judge-mental. My time with him helped me to get over a lot of irrational worries I had about relationships.
