Good evening, Hope this email finds you well. The purpose of this email is to inform that due to the changes in regulation in NYS for Licensed Mental Health Counselors, like myself, and Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, I will seize to conduct private therapy sessions after 06/15/24. The change in regulation is that as of 06/24/24 in NYS, LMHC’s and LMFT’s will have to re-verify our educational and practical experience in order to have diagnostic and treatment planning “privilege”, tasks that we were adequately trained in while in graduate school and are essential functions of the career, every 3 years for a fee. This just another bureaucratic hurdle I refuse to jump through. If you seek to send referrals or continue your counseling process, please look for clinicians with the credentials PsyD, LMSW, or LCSW.
