Jonathan Kessler LCSW
I believe therapy is most effective when it is collaborative and draws from one's history, everyday life, relational context, and the here and now between us in session. I aim to help my clients find ways to reduce suffering and change habits of being to live more peaceful, fulfilling and meaningful lives. Using a trauma-informed lens, I help tune into and increase awareness of the impact and influence of one's various contexts of identity and role, family, relationships, and work.
I work to establish a safe, confidential and creative space with my clients, and collaboratively locate and get acquainted with concerns in your life, relationships and family. Then, with mutual inquiry, problem-solving and skill building, we will identify and draw on your strengths and resources, and learn and practice new strategies to respond to challenges in healthier, more fulfilling ways.
I have been working with individuals, couples and families in private practice for 12 years, utilizing an integrated approach that incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness practices. I have worked as a provider, clinical supervisor and MSW SIFI instructor in a variety of professional settings, including community family clinics, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, homeless outreach, and substance abuse programs.
