Justin Piershalski MD

You may come to psychiatric treatment for many reasons; trouble with finding or giving love, disabling anxiety, vague dissatisfaction with life, or feeling stuck and unable to reach your potential to name a few. I have found that the best treatment for these and many other seemingly disparate problems is a therapeutic process of joint discovery that allows you to better understand yourself, how you look at the world and why you do the things you do. Together we will seek to better understand who you are, what you are looking for and what is getting in your way both within and without. Your newfound self-knowledge will empower you to make change and craft a better life. I am an expert in psychodynamic psychotherapy, a modality that best facilitates the therapeutic process outlined above. This said, every person is unique, and treatment will be tailored to your specific needs. I have experience in treating the wide spectrum of mental health conditions, and particular expertise with Depression and PTSD. I completed my residency training at the University of Pennsylvania as well as a post-graduate psychodynamic therapy program at PANY. I am an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at NYU. As a psychiatrist I can and do offer medication when indicated. Psychiatric medication can be a useful tool, a cornerstone of treatment or not needed at all depending on the person and their needs.
