KidsConnect Pediatric Therapy

Within a clinic space located in downtown Oak Park, IL that feels like “home” rather than a typical medical setting, KidsConnect provides individual or group holistic, client-centered, and evidence-based occupational therapy, feeding, and speech treatment to children 0 to 21 years of age. Treatment is also delivered, when needed, within the client’s home, at school, or on the playground. Therapy is focused on but not limited to feeding concerns, sensory difficulties, attention deficits, gross and fine motor problems, improving eye-hand coordination and basic life skills (bathing, getting dressed, brushing teeth, etc.), learning positive behaviors and social skills, speech and language related concerns (early language delays, articulation, fluency, expressive and receptive language difficulties, pragmatics and social language), and AAC devices. Services can be provided once or twice per week on a continuous basis. On the same time, a more flexible schedule can be developed to facilitate consultative and coaching sessions, educating the parent/caregiver and/or the teacher on sensory and speech related strategies and adaptive techniques. We also offer educational materials to better support the child within their natural environment. We follow the play therapy approach and/or child directed method aka the DIR Model. When the child's intrinsic motivation is awakened, the child will be more engaged, happier, and ready to lean. Literature/research mentions that a child learns way much faster when they’re engaged through functional and motivational play. Our therapy services are specifically targeted to facilitate function and engagement so the child can live a meaningful and happier life!
