Lesley Thompson Marriage and Family Therapy

You can be capable, driven, and successful in many areas of life and still feel stuck in the places that matter most. You may find yourself having the same arguments with your partner, feeling lonely even when you’re together, or struggling with self-doubt that others rarely see. Trying harder hasn’t brought the change you hoped for, and you’re ready to understand why. My practice offers online therapy for adults and couples in New York, New Jersey, and Texas. I work with couples facing recurring conflict, emotional distance, and difficulty rebuilding trust, as well as those preparing for marriage or navigating major life changes. I also support individuals with anxiety, self-worth, shame, identity, and relationship concerns. The qualities that help you succeed professionally don’t always help you navigate emotional closeness. Solving problems quickly, pushing through, or holding yourself to high standards can sometimes make it harder to recognize what you need or understand what your partner is experiencing. Therapy offers space to explore these patterns and practice different ways of responding. My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. We work to understand what’s beneath your concerns, including how earlier experiences, trauma, or ADHD may be affecting your life and relationships. Alongside that deeper understanding, we focus on practical changes that help you communicate more openly, handle conflict, and build a stronger sense of connection with yourself and others. I also offer online relationship therapy for couples and adult family members who are located in different states within New York, New Jersey, and Texas. To discuss working together or schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation, please contact the practice directly at 646-942-3621.

Lesley has been a great therapist for me as she makes it very comfortable for me to share my thoughts/feelings freely without feeling judged. I truly appreciate her guidance in trying to figure out the root of my issues. She is compassionate, warm and most importantly encouraging. She also is a great listener and provides the right feedback when it's needed. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Leslie is the most qualified therapist I have ever encountered. Personally I have a Ph.D. in psychology, but Leslie gives my husband and I insight in systematic problems and issues. She helps us reach and deal with deeply rooted issues to see how both of our systems work together and clash. As a result my husband and I attack problems at the source and co-create a new, healthier system to live in. Leslie has given us tools and resources we plan to use for the rest of our lives. I don’t know where we would be in our marriage without her. She can be trusted with the most sensitive and vulnerable areas of your life and transform them into stepping stones for growth. I highly recommend her expertise.

Working with Lesley has been very helpful. We were impressed that she was able to provide impactful insight during our first couples session. Lesley has quickly gotten to know us and is very good at providing targeted feedback to us each as individuals. Every session feels productive. Highly recommend!

I love working with Lesley as my therapist. She is kind, thoughtful, and encouraging. On my second visit to her, I could tell that she had paid close attention in our first meeting, as she could recall a number of specific details I had mentioned, without referencing the notes she'd taken during that first visit. She made me feel known very quickly. Each week she is engaged, empathetic, thoughtful, and offers practical, helpful advice. I feel very at ease with her, and feel she genuinely wants to know and help me. I look forward to my appointments with her each week, and am grateful for her expertise and support.

Lesley has been a helpful therapist. She is a great listener who asks the right questions to help you dig deeper. She is incredibly patient and non judgmental. She is always on time to our visits and uses my time to its full capacity. She is easy going and it is never awkward in any way with her. I highly recommend her.

She is very good at what she does. I feel I can speak about anything to her and there’s no judgment. She asks the right questions when I’m sharing about what’s going on. She helps me to see the root of my issues and helps me uncover things in myself I didn’t know were there so that I can work on them and heal from them. I would highly recommend her

I feel I can discuss the difficult issues that I deal with. It's a matter of me becoming comfortable with doing so. But I do feel listened to and it is helpful because a lot of my challenges are repetitive. This makes the challenges I have seem like ones I understand, but that I still struggle with. The visits I have do gradually help me to feel like I am getting better at dealing with them.

Leslie has been extremely helpful in working with me. I appreciate her attentiveness and the genuine care and investment that I feel. She has met my very specific needs and I have seen growth within myself since starting to work with her. I would definitely and have already recommended her to those that have asked.
