Lynette G. Collins, LCPC, LMHC, LPC
At Impactful Counseling Services, PLLC, I provide compassionate, evidence-based psychotherapy for adults, couples, and families seeking support with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. I believe meaningful healing happens when clients feel emotionally safe, deeply understood, and actively involved in their therapy process.
Many of the clients I work with are high-functioning individuals who appear to be “doing well” on the outside but feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or disconnected on the inside. Others are carrying unresolved emotional pain from childhood, past relationships, or traumatic experiences that continue to impact their self-esteem, emotional regulation, and relationships today. My work focuses on helping clients understand these patterns, heal emotional wounds, and develop healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and relating.
My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their experiences honestly, without fear of being judged or misunderstood. Therapy is a partnership, and I work closely with each client to clarify goals, build insight, and develop practical tools that support lasting change.
My Clinical Approach
I use an integrative therapy approach that combines depth-oriented emotional work with structured, evidence-based techniques. This allows me to address both the root causes of distress and the everyday challenges that interfere with clients’ quality of life.
Some clients benefit from exploring early life experiences, attachment patterns, and emotional wounds that continue to influence how they see themselves and relate to others. Other clients are focused on learning concrete coping strategies for managing anxiety, improving communication, and strengthening emotional regulation. In most cases, I find that a combination of insight-based therapy and skills-based interventions leads to the most meaningful and sustainable results.
In therapy, I focus on helping clients:
Understand how past experiences impact current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors
Identify emotional triggers, core beliefs, and automatic thought patterns
Develop healthier coping strategies for anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm
Strengthen emotional regulation and distress tolerance skills
Improve communication and relationship dynamics
Set and maintain healthy boundaries
Build confidence, self-trust, and self-compassion
Reduce the impact of inner critical voices and self-doubt
Areas of Focus
I commonly provide therapy for individuals and couples experiencing:
Anxiety disorders and chronic worry
Depression and mood concerns
Trauma and post-traumatic stress
Childhood emotional neglect and attachment-related issues
Relationship and communication challenges
Life transitions and identity shifts
Caregiver stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout
Low self-esteem and negative self-talk
Emotional regulation difficulties
Work-related stress and high-achieving professional burnout
Therapeutic Methods & Modalities
I am trained in a variety of evidence-based therapy approaches, including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
I use CBT to help clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, and emotional distress. This includes working with automatic thoughts, core beliefs, and cognitive distortions to support healthier, more balanced thinking.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
SFBT helps clients clarify goals, recognize strengths, and build momentum toward positive change. This approach is especially helpful for clients who want practical, forward-focused strategies.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)-Informed Therapy (Parts Work)
I use IFS-informed parts work to help clients understand the different parts of themselves that hold emotions, fears, protective strategies, and unmet needs. This approach supports self-compassion, reduces inner conflict, and promotes emotional healing.
Trauma-Informed Therapy
All of my work is provided through a trauma-informed lens. I prioritize emotional safety, client choice, collaboration, and empowerment. I understand how trauma affects the nervous system, emotional regulation, and relationships, and I work at a pace that supports stabilization and long-term healing.
Skills-Based and Psychoeducational Interventions
I provide practical tools and education to help clients manage stress, regulate emotions, improve communication, and build coping skills they can use between sessions. This may include grounding techniques, emotional regulation strategies, boundary-setting tools, and relationship skills training.
My Philosophy of Care
I believe therapy is most effective when clients feel respected, supported, and actively involved in their treatment. I view my role as walking alongside clients as they build insight, strengthen emotional skills, and reconnect with their inner strengths.
Rather than focusing only on symptom relief, I help clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their emotional patterns, and their relationships. My goal is to support long-term growth, increased self-awareness, and improved emotional well-being.
I do not believe clients are broken or need to be “fixed.” Instead, I believe clients already have the capacity for healing and growth, and therapy helps remove the emotional barriers that get in the way of that process.
What Makes My Practice Different
Clients often choose my practice because I offer:
A warm, relational, and client-centered therapy style
A balance of emotional depth and practical tools
Trauma-informed and emotionally attuned care
IFS-informed parts work to support self-compassion and inner healing
A strong focus on self-trust, confidence, and emotional empowerment
Collaborative goal-setting and individualized treatment planning
Emphasis on sustainable, long-term change
Secure, HIPAA-compliant online therapy for flexibility and accessibility
Online Therapy & Accessibility
I provide secure teletherapy services to clients across multiple states, including Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana. Online therapy allows clients to access high-quality mental health care from the comfort and privacy of their own space, making therapy more accessible for busy professionals, caregivers, and individuals with demanding schedules.
My Commitment to Clients
I am committed to providing ethical, professional, and culturally responsive mental health care. I strive to create an inclusive and affirming environment where clients of diverse backgrounds, identities, and life experiences feel respected and supported.
I understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming. My goal is to make the process as supportive and empowering as possible—helping clients feel heard, understood, and equipped with tools they can carry into their daily lives.

I would definitely go back and speak with my therapist. She was knowledgeable of what I was dealing with and listen to understand gave me clarity on what I was dealing with.
