Mata Psychiatry

At Mata Psychiatry, we believe mental health care should be accessible, collaborative, and personalized. Too often, patients leave psychiatric appointments feeling rushed, unheard, or unsure of why certain treatment decisions were made. My goal is to create a different experience—one where patients feel comfortable asking questions, actively participating in treatment decisions, and developing a genuine understanding of their mental health. I take the time to understand the full picture, including symptoms, life circumstances, strengths, treatment history, and personal goals. While medication management is often an important part of care, I believe effective psychiatric treatment involves much more than just prescribing medication. I frequently incorporate psychotherapy techniques, education, and practical wellness strategies into appointments to help patients better understand and manage their symptoms. My primary areas of interest include depression and bipolar disorder. Prior to becoming a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I worked in psychiatric research at Massachusetts General Hospital, McLean Hospital, and Mount Sinai, contributing to research focused on bipolar disorder and treatment-resistant depression. This experience reinforced the importance of individualized treatment and evidence-based care, particularly when standard approaches have not provided adequate relief. Accessibility is another core value of Mata Psychiatry. I offer in-person appointments in Oakland, New Jersey, as well as Telehealth appointments throughout New Jersey. Same-day and next-day appointments are often available, and I provide evening, late-night, and weekend appointment options to accommodate busy schedules. I also strive to be responsive to patient communications, typically responding to messages within 24 business hours. Whether you are seeking treatment for depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, ADHD, or another mental health concern, my goal is simple: to provide thoughtful, compassionate care that helps you feel heard, informed, and confident in your treatment plan.
