Melanie Stern, LMHC

My work is psychodynamic and relational, and our relationship often becomes a window into the rest of your life. I also look at the systems you're part of and bring a trauma-informed lens shaped by my EMDR training (Levels 1 and 2). Alongside the deeper work, I offer concrete, practical support, including CBT tools. I work from a harm reduction approach, meeting you where you are. Some clients want to stop drinking or using, some want to cut back, and some just want to understand their relationship with substances better. For clients in recovery, I support whatever path fits, whether that's 12-step, other support groups, or harm reduction. I'm also glad to collaborate with psychiatrists and other providers you see. I completed specialized training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies (NIP) and have seven years in private practice. Beyond substance use, ADHD, and anxiety, I have a particular focus on adults feeling stuck launching into their lives and men wanting to connect more with their emotions.
