Melissa is amazing -- I've been seeing her periodically for 3+ years now and she really helped me take control of my depression and ADD. She'll bring in known systems like CBT and ACT, explain them at a high level, point me to further resources so I can teach myself, and course correct as I apply them to my challenges. She is gentle in her approach, never forcefully bringing her opinion or judging me, but instead gradually exploring my thoughts and helping me iterate towards a better and durable/repeatable understanding. After each session, she also writes up the right amount of notes / ideas / shared resources (e.g. links to WWW resources) for you to take home and work on yourself, in between visits. I call it "homework", except it is never graded! She is surprisingly disarming, with a fun, quirky sense of humor, making me feel always at ease even when talking through very difficult things.
