Mental Health Services
My work is centered on a trauma lens and focuses on the experiences of growing up rather than pathologizing clients. I like to work from a relational therapy background, this takes a look at how previous relationships were formed and how certain experiences lend its hand in shaping how you act, think, and feel about yourself in relation to others. I also like to pull from other areas of therapy to help supplement our work together.
Being both queer and BIPOC myself, I understand the many challenges faced with identifying ourselves based on racial and ethnic features that may not be translated to the large collective society. I wish to offer support for people who have not had the chance to be heard in a safe and non-judgmental space.
My Values
Professionally I feel that diagnosis lends its hand to many misconceptions and stereotypes that plague the BIPOC community. I also understand that some diagnoses offer clarity and relief to clients looking to understand themselves a little more. I do not invalidate either position, I strongly believe that understanding where the source of the symptoms originated from can serve as an anchor in changing someone's outcome and overall well-being.
