I work with both individuals and couples who wish to take a meaningful look inside themselves to help get past the barriers that are keeping them from fully living their lives in the way they long for. My clients are often challenged to look deep inside their emotional worlds and I do this with a compassionate, non-judgmental and caring approach. My goal is to help you learn more about your emotional world in a way that offers new understanding, increased self-awareness and self-compassion (whether that is anxiety, depression, major life challenges, relationship conflicts and/or trauma). This leads to relief from feelings of sadness, anxiety, fear, shame, loneliness, despair, panic, stress and other painful emotional states which opens the door to a more peaceful, meaningful life. I also work with couples using the Gottman Method. He has trained through all 3 levels of the Gottman Method with additional training in working with couples on trauma and affairs. Although my area of expertise is in working with the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ and gender non-conforming couples, I believes that many of the fundamental struggles that couples sometimes face (conflict management, creating shared goals and meaning, intimacy, sex, etc.) occur across all areas of the gender and sexuality spectrum. I welcomes people from all backgrounds and walks of life to my practice. My office is in Manhattan, but I can work with clients virtually who live in NY state and Massachusetts. This gives me a chance to get understand a little bit more about what brings you to therapy at this time and how I might best be able to help you. It also is a chance for you to ask any questions you have for me. A lot of people have questions about insurance, which I completely understand. It can be very confusing, but I can give you a description of how it works for me: In terms of insurance, I am an out-of-network provider. What this means is if your insurance plan has out-of-network benefits, your plan will usually pay for a percentage of my fee after your deductible has been paid down. If you see me for a session, you would pay me directly for the session and I would provide you with what's called a 'superbill' receipt. A superbill contains all the necessary information to submit to your insurance plan for reimbursement. If you're unsure if you have this benefit, you can call the number on the back of your insurance plan and ask if you have out-of-network benefits. You can also pay by what's called 'out-of-pocket.' This means that you simply pay me directly with no insurance involvement. I can provide you with a simple receipt.
