Dr. Mark Co is a board-certified podiatric physician treating patients in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is a staff physician with California Pacific Medical Center/Sutter Medical Foundation and UCSF/St. Mary’s Medical Center. Dr. Co did not start his career as a physician. He graduated Johns Hopkins University with a concurrent Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. While working as an engineer for AT&T he completed an MBA at New York University Stern School of Business in the evenings. He subsequently pursued telecommunications and Internet product management opportunities rising to Director-level positions managing small teams of product managers. Despite his success in high technology, he realized his calling through a defining moment volunteering at San Francisco General Hospital. He has spent nearly a decade realizing his goal of becoming a physician, the profession of his father and mother. Dr. Co practices with a common-sense approach to foot and ankle issues using all available treatments, conservative and surgical, to arrive at an appropriate treatment plan for his individual patients. He believes each patient presents differently and may require an individualized treatment approach. He activates his medical training to find the best solutions for his patients. Most importantly, his goal is always to be of service to his patients and feels privileged to earn the trust of his patients.

I saw Dr. Co to treat what I suspected was a fungal foot infection (fortunately, it wasn’t that!), and he was extremely professional and courteous. He explained my condition and recommended that I come back for a follow up in January 2026. I look forward to seeing him again!

I had a very painful callous. I previously saw a podiatrist whose "cure" lasted about a day and I was no better than when I started. Dr. Co swore he would do better than my last encounter and he did - and then some. I left the office and for the first time in months I could rely on my foot not sending me into convulsions! I had a very disappointing experience with my doctor at the Foot & Ankle Center. The doctor seemed extremely rushed and impersonal, and they caused me pain without asking for my consent to proceed with the procedures. It felt like they didn’t even review my chart before our meeting and didn’t ask many questions about my condition or how I was feeling. Overall, I felt neglected and uncared for during and after my appointment. I would not recommend this practice to others.

I was taken 5-10 min early, but my appt was for 3pm and I was shown my way out at 2:58pm. That’s how little time the dr spent with me :/ I didn’t get to explain all the issues I had been having and what I have tried in the past, pain level etc. I told him I had an abscess on one toe and an ingrown on the other. He hardly looked at the toe with the abscess, and the toe with ingrown he said he thought it was just calluses. So he started scraping it with a little tool and that hurt, it caused my toe to start bleeding. I kept flinching but he kept going. Then he accidentally cut the side of my toe where he wasn’t even working, and said “sorry I nicked you” but it was painful and blood was literally dripping down my toe but all he did was put on a bandaid. He told me to soak it every day for two weeks and come back if it wasn’t better. I ended up going back to urgent care because I bled through my sock and it pooled into my shoe. Really sad cause he was so highly recommended by my dr.

My only problem was I got conflicting messages about the time of my appointment. One message said 9, one said 10. Had to call office to confirm time. They said it was the fault of Zocdoc but don't know.

My experience today with Dr. Ko and the staff at this office was very good. I was in the exam room on time (even a couple of minutes before my actual scheduled appt) and Dr. Ko was good at explaining what he thought was happening with my heel pain and how to start the process of healing it. Big thumbs up for the entire expereince.

I really liked Dr Co. He has a gentle manner and seems to be a good listener. The appointment felt a little rushed, and I believe it's because appointments are scheduled to be 15 minutes long at this practice (I could be wrong). Maybe that is industry standard, but I think that's a too short for a new patient.
