Nutrition and Fitness Professional, LLC
As a licensed dietitian and exercise physiologist as well as personal trainer, service revolves around patient assessment of needs from learning about you, an initial intervention approach, and follow-up and reflection. Some patients also benefit from regular support and counseling as life circumstances change or as a place to reflect and receive guidance (with permission) around creating an eating routine and exercise routine that works with you.
Of note for those looking for specific things about the practice, Joey has done vegetarianism for years but does not require anyone follow 'his plan.' He is also Board Certified in Obesity and Weight Management, which is a 2000 hour practice requirement as well as sitting for a 3 hour exam on the latest research. It also expires every 5 years. He also is Board Certified in Sports Dietetics, which has the same requirements as the other board certification. He's worked as a personal trainer for 7 years and is adept at listening to exercise routines and commenting on them as someone with a bachelor's and master's degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology. He also has attended group and individual therapy for >10 years and is adept in counseling behavior change, employing and eliciting client emotions, behavior chain analysis, some CBT and DBT (therapy skills work), psychoanalysis, and of course, motivational interviewing. He is also good at referring to mental health as well but finds that ignoring mental health concerns within nutrition counseling can counter productive. At the minimum, he will introduce the ideas or techniques. If a patient wishes to hold a boundary around a certain area, it can be respected.
