Padda Institute
Padda Institute is an interventional pain, addiction medicine and metabolic health practice in St. Louis, led by Dr. Gurpreet Singh Padda, MD, MBA, MHP. Dr. Padda is board certified in anesthesiology, pain medicine, interventional pain management, addiction medicine and obesity medicine, and he also manages inpatient pain care at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.
We start from one belief: pain is a signal, not a diagnosis. Something in the body's structure, nerves, metabolism or daily life has drifted out of balance. Our job is to find that signal precisely, relieve the pain, and then fix the conditions that let it become chronic.
WHAT WE TREAT
Back and neck pain, sciatica, spinal stenosis, joint pain (knee, hip, shoulder), headache and migraine, complex regional pain syndrome (RSD), diabetic and other neuropathy, car accident and work injuries, post-surgical pain, PTSD, and opioid and other substance dependence.
HOW WE TREAT IT
- Image-guided injections: epidural steroid, facet joint, selective nerve root, stellate ganglion and lumbar sympathetic blocks
- Radiofrequency ablation for facet joint pain
- Vertebroplasty for compression fractures
- Spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulation; vagus nerve stimulation for PTSD
- Diagnostic testing: discography, electrodiagnostics, and allergy testing for migraine patients
- Shockwave therapy, chiropractic care and physical therapy in the same building
- Behavioral pain care, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, delivered in-house
- Addiction medicine, including medication-assisted treatment and supervised opioid weaning
- Medical weight loss and metabolic care
- Regenerative medicine (platelet-rich plasma, bone marrow concentrate) through Regen.MD, our regenerative practice in the same building
Conservative and interventional care come first. When those are exhausted, Dr. Padda also performs minimally invasive procedures such as stimulator and pump implants and nerve decompressions.
WHY METABOLISM MATTERS
Chronic pain is tied to insulin resistance, excess weight, poor sleep, low-grade inflammation and nervous system overdrive. That is why so many patients cycle from clinic to clinic without lasting relief. We assess inflammation, blood sugar, body composition and sleep alongside the spine and joints, because improving them makes pain treatment work better and last longer, and it often means less medication.
Sleep, strength, movement, nutrition and stress are treated as clinical tools here, with the same seriousness as procedures. The advice is specific to your condition and your goals, and we track progress with objective measures.
MEDICATION STEWARDSHIP
Many patients come to us already on high doses of pain medication. We meet them where they are, keep them safe, and work toward the lowest effective dose with a clear plan. Procedures, metabolic care and therapy make that reduction possible.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Many patients arrive after years of frustration, told their imaging 'looks normal' or passed between therapies without a plan. We start by listening, reviewing your prior records and building one coherent plan. Every procedure is chosen for a specific reason, explained in plain language and measured by how well you function, not just by a temporary drop in pain.
Our team speaks English, Spanish, Hindi, Punjabi and Bosnian. Limited telehealth visits are available for existing addiction medicine patients.
Pain is complex. Your care should be too.
