Perspective Clinical Therapy

Nicole has over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings, ranging from school and agency to private practice settings. Over the past 5 years, Nicole has built and is the owner and head Psychotherapist at Perspective Clinical Therapy, a private practice in the loop area of Chicago. Nicole practices from a person-centered, holistic approach, eluding significant value on the therapeutic relationship in order to initiate an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion. Nicole works with clients who have a readiness to change, coupled with an interest to find alternative methods, perspective, tools, and action, to ultimately cultivate the motivation necessary for change to occur. Nicole currently works with Adults only. Nicole also is now certified with her PMH-C, which is a certification to best treat perinatal mental health, the mental well-being of individuals trying to conceive, during pregnancy, and up to 2 years after childbirth. When attending a session with Nicole for the first time, whether it be your first time in therapy or your 100th, Nicole’s goal is to have you feel understood and heard, by offering a relatable and warm experience that prepares both of you for a mutual partnership of working toward your individual goals. Nicole strongly believes that change does not happen overnight, and it is a process, but with all processes, it is a reaction between two things or two people, not just one. She invites you to start that process with her now, and thus, with organization and compartmentalization, sort through each problem area together.

Nicole was incredibly kind and open - this was my first time to therapy ever, and I felt so comfortable and at ease.
She’s a pro, she will make you work hard and brings out the BEST in you!

Took me a couple people but finally found someone to hit home with therapy, instead of just feeling like I was paying for a sounding board. Nicole has a great way of relaying messages in my tone and understanding my convoluted metaphors and turns them into something to build on.

great first experience. really makes the session focused on what you need/want. willing/able to bounce back and forth from ideas/thought process and still comprehend what you are getting to
I'm echoing the other poor reviews that I recommend you do not go to her if you're really struggling or new to therapy. The other review from November 30th, 2020 is exactly how I felt. She clearly was paying more attention to the laptop, and at the end of every appointment (I had a few), she would settle up and we'd spend 10 minutes trying to pick the next meeting. Attempting to set a standard time/date got a ton of pushback as if I were a burden, so it was constantly on me to email her to try and set a date. Really not a great experience when you have to continually track down your therapist and she goes out of her way to tell you how busy she is.
I saw another less than decent review and mustered up the courage to write an honest review. Nicole was patient during our first session. She had her laptop in front of her the whole time our session was taking place. She did however explained that she needed the laptop to take notes so I didn’t mind it at first. However, our second, third and fourth session it was very clear that she wasn’t using her computer to take notes but to respond to emails, browsing, etc. When I asked her about this she explained that she has to respond to emails right away in case patients cancel in the last minute, etc. Other people might be okay with this, but I certainly was not. I just stopped seeing her. How was I supposed to trust her to guide me to reach a better space when she couldn’t even bother giving her full attention throughout our session? I also think it’s common decency and basic respect for a therapist/counselor to not multitask when some unknown person paid to see you and unpacked their entire life for some guidance.
I am so happy with my first appointment with Nicole. She was very clear and made me feel comfortable. I am looking forward to continuing with her.

Clearly I am in the minority here but I feel strongly enough to leave this review because I would never, ever recommend someone who is really struggling to see Nicole. She will expect you to lead in the first couple sessions and does not have time to build relationships. She tried to limit our sessions to once a month after our first session. If you are familiar with CBT as a client and are just trying to find a therapist to help you maintain your motivation then she might be a good fit for you. But if you are struggling with any debilitating mental health issue or are new to therapy, I would strongly encourage you to see a different therapist. She made me feel like I was a burden for not being prepared enough for our sessions and she completely lacked compassion. You as a client have the right to be treated with respect and do not be afraid to advocate for yourself.

First time patient, great experience.
I love talking to Nicole, she is so relatable and I always feel so comfortable talking to her. I wanted to find a therapist that I thought I could relate to and feel comfortable sharing things with and that is definitely what I have found here. So thankful for her help, especially now!

Nicole was very welcoming and easy to talk to. I felt comfortable opening up to her immediately. She is non-judgmental and genuine.
Nicole is one of the greatest things that has happened to me. She is professional and sincere and makes you feel comfortable from the minute you walk in her office. She gives real and honest advice and has a great energy that makes me feel safe and at ease. I would definitely recommend her as a therapist.

Nicole made me feel comfortable and at-ease during my session. She gave me helpful activities/goals to work on in between my next session which I liked and I know will be beneficial.
I’ve been to many different therapist thought the years so I always compare one to the next. Nicole’s office not only is close to my home making it easy to make and keep appointments; but very clean, inviting and professional. Literally no wait time, I didn’t feel she rushed through my session at all, didn’t talk ‘at’ me but listened, pushed back when needed and gave me things to work on right away. For someone who needs accountability this is the perfect fit for me.

This was my first session with Nicole but I was impressed. I dislike when therapists don’t have a “back and forth” conversation with a parent and only sit there and listen. Nicole was the opposite- very engaging, listened when she needed to, but also stopped me throughout he conversation to ask questions and get a full understanding. She likes to give “measurable tasks” or “homework” for a person to do that will get them working towards their goals (if the patient want this). It made me feel like I was actually making progress to get to my goals, even if it was just a small task. Again, this was only my first session, but I’d recommend Nicole so far and will continue to see her.
