Practical Compassion Psychotherapy

Practical Compassion Psychotherapy provides queer-affirming, trauma-informed therapy in San Francisco. Dr. Sam Wessels is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in work with LGBTQ+ adults navigating trauma, anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, grief, and major life transitions. He also works with people facing cancer, including patients in treatment, survivors, and caregivers, drawing in part on his own experience as a cancer survivor. His approach is relational, integrative, and direct, drawing on psychodynamic, somatic, IFS, and existential frameworks. Available in person in San Francisco's Nob Hill area and via telehealth throughout California.
